Benefits of Paperless Receipts

What Do You Think of Paperless Receipts?

Receipts, just like bills, are heading towards the paperless route. Many retailer giants, like Whole Foods Market, Nordstrom, Gap Inc., are sending customers digital receipts, and it's a trend that's catching on.

The pros to getting electronic versions of receipts include having less clutter and being able to search and organize your receipts with ease on computers. It is also obviously more environmentally friendly. The biggest downside to that will be the retailers may potentially spam you with offers once they get a hold of your email address.

I think paperless is great, and I'm not worried about the spam so much. Big retailers won't do anything shady, because there are very strict laws about everything. I am subscribed to a bunch of newsletters already anyway. One thing that would take them from "sort of a good idea" to "absolutely fantastic" though would be if all receipts, ever, were stored elsewhere too, so that you could look at them all at once. I think this would be helpful in case you accidentally delete them or change your email address.

I think it's a great idea since majority of the receipts I get now tend to rub off after 5 days and you cannot read them any longer due to the type of paper they now use. Good idea is before leaving the counter write in a pen the date, bar code, receipt no and cashier ID number. That way when you pull it back out your writing is legible unlike the receipt itself!

Love paper receipts. I think retailers should have the possibility to start offering email receipts as quickly as possible. That;s why we founded yReceipts. Everyone can be up and running in a day and test it out for free. getintouch@yreceipts.com if you like. All the best. Alexander

I love regular receipts. That way I have proof of what I purchased. I can't drag my computer down to the store if something is wrong! I guess that isn't a problem for people who have printers or smartphones, lol.
