Cheap Halloween Costumes

Ask Savvy: Need Costume Ideas For Someone on a Budget!

It's time to get your trick or treat on, because Halloween is almost here! I have my costume already (I'm using last year's), but this reader needs your suggestions on some budget-friendly costume ideas. This post was shared by reader Community Assistant last week in our Ask Savvy group.

Halloween is about two weeks away, but I haven't really given it much thought—until now. I really cannot afford to spend $55-$150 on a costume. My situation has left me confused and stuck on what to be. I am wondering if you guys have any innovative, yet cheap ideas? No nerd, cat, witch or anything super played out. Thanks!

chiheatherlove, that's so clever!Last year the BF and I were Charlie Brown and Lucy. For CB, I bought a cheap $5 t-shirt and black felt (cut into the zig zag shape and used fabric glue to attach) and had him wear black shorts. For Lucy, I found a cute vintage blue dress ($10!) and used the felt to make lines on the front of the shirt and carried around a football.Good luck!

How about static cling? Just pin a bunch of socks and other laundry items to yourself. Hand out Bounce sheets all day :-)
