This is seriously gross, so don't say I didn't warn you! You know all those theories that your cell phone and purse are dirtier than a public toilet? Well, it turns out that you may be able to add your keyboard to that list of bacteria-ridden items. Research composed by microbiologist James Francis found that office keyboards can harbor more germs and sickness inducing bacteria than the average toilet seat.
The main cause of contamination was crumbs stuck between keys that trigger the growth of bacteria, and the next germy culprit was people skipping the soap and water on their way out of the bathroom. Francis said, "These results are generally typical of offices up and down the country." Be sure to freshen up your keyboard regularly and stop feeling guilty about leaving your desk to eat lunch. I'm off to give my keyboard the best cleaning it has ever had — you?
