Dealing with Friends and Money

Would You Lead a Financial Intervention?

We all have those friends, the ones who are always up for a good time, but typically low on cash. Now, when it comes to our own budgets, we're all about setting the record straight with friends who have the potential to warp our perspective on fiscal responsibility. We're always our own best advocates when it comes to staying on track, and keeping our bank accounts in check, but what if the shoe's on the other foot? What if it isn't you that has the money troubles?

Money doesn't make for the best conversation topic. It's awkward and messy, and really, if it's not your cash, it's probably none of your business. Still, when you're watching a friend spend away her paycheck week after week on a serious shopping addiction, do you speak up? If there's a friend or family member in need of a serious financial reality check, would you intervene to help out?

Yeah, I know that my folks have money issues, but I'd never get involved with their finances. That's sort of something they have to deal with on their own.
