Disney Just Bought Land in Anaheim, So We're Freaking Out

Disney fans (aka everyone), hold on to your Mickey ears. Disney just bought a bunch of land in Anaheim, CA, and now we're speculating the reason. Expanding Disneyland itself? Building a Marvel or Star Wars park? Introducing a brand-new park?! Either way, it's bound to be something exciting, but we'll have to wait to find out, because officials are keeping it a secret.

Here's what we know for sure:

  • The Walt Disney Co. bought three parcels of land in Anaheim. The lots add up to almost 15 acres, and they're "connected and sit across Harbor Boulevard from Disney California Adventure."
  • There will be Marvel, Star Wars, and Tron attractions at Shanghai Disney when the new park opens next year, so it makes sense that Disney would bring those to California, too. Plus, Todd Regan, founder of MiceChat (an all-things Disney blog!), said, "It's really a no-brainer that Star Wars will take over at Disneyland, and Marvel will probably go into Disney California Adventure."
  • The land cost a LOT, so this is definitely no joke. The LA Times reports that "Disney would not disclose how much it paid for the three parcels but property records say the total value of the land is about $60 million."
  • We're planning our next Disneyland trip ASAP.
