Nope. Yesterday I even stayed late because I got caught up with stuff to do. Plus it'd drive me paranoid, I'd be way to scared of getting caught! Not to mention all my coworkers always work really hard throughout the whole day, I don't want them to think I'm a slacker! Oh, and I can't even spend more time on Popsugar now they monitor our use of the Internet. :(

My boss is in our office maybe 2 times a month. We have to clock in and out electronically so there really is no way around leaving early- except for the days I get to work earlier then I can leave. I like to take a longer lunch break- go to the store- run do some grocery shopping and then come back to the office and finish out the day. Most of my downtime when I am without the boss is spent on SUGAR! :)

I said yes, but only because i leave earlier than i would if a partner was still there. But I am not leaving "early" - its just means 7 instead of 9 if my work is done. I am still likely the last to leave.

We really have pretty flexible hours at my work, so there's no "leaving early" or "leaving late." (I mean, we have hours we're supposed to be here, but they aren't set in stone.) More often than not, I find myself leaving early when my boss is here because she'll tell me to stop working and go home!

i pretty much always leave at the same time, regardless if she's here or not. she's out of the office a lot and what that means is that i get to leave 'on time' rather than late

Nope. I'm a stickler. I get off at 5 and will wait until exactly 5 no matter who is left in the office!

Since I have seniority, I normally check the workload before making a decision on if we're (the whole team) leaving earlier or not and by earlier we're talking about 30 minutes at the most.

I don't leave early, not only because it's unethical, but because even if I did, everything gets recorded in a timesheet and my boss will see that eventually! I do tend to "relax" a bit when my boss isn't there, though...meaning, I don't push myself TOO hard! With moderation, of course.

Absolutely not. A longer lunch or surfing the web more, etc. is one thing, but leaving the work day early is not appropriate. There's one girl in our department who ALWAYS looks up to see when senior management have left and then grabs her stuff as soon as they're gone and goes. Everyone notices it. I agree with Nicachina above - it's ridiculous to leave early just because your boss isn't there, IMO. But others may disagree, so to each their own.

I stay at least an hour extra every day at work. I have been doing this since I started working at this company 9 years ago. I believe that hard work and dedication does eventually pays off. It was for me :-)

No. I won't leave early just because my boss does. In the past I didn't and I'm glad I never did because sticking around always paid off. Sometimes my bosses would come back to the office at 5pm and "hey where is everyone?" Well I was still there and other co-workers got busted. I also got a promotion out of "being there and working without supervision" after my boss left. All because my boss' boss saw me continuing to work after others left early. When he had a question I became his go-to-girl and got a promotion and pay increase without even asking for it. And when finances got tight at two different companies I worked for they actually gave us electronic security badges to carry. Then they installed sensors at the exits that indicated when you left the building and when you returned. No badge - then you couldn't get into the office. No badge - then you had to have HR manually adjust your time sheet to say you showed up to work or you were not paid period.

Sometimes.

No, I stay as long as I normally would. My boss doesn't breathe down my neck anyway, so I don't even notice most of the time.

Yep, as long as all the work's done, we're actually allowed to go home early.
