I use my card for food shopping and what I label 'necessary expenses' (bills etc), and withdraw £20 each Friday for all the 'unecessary expenses'. It's the only way I manage to more or less work on a budget. CoronaLove 6 years CASH. On Sunday, I take money out of the bank for the week. If I run out Wednesday than its my fault and I cant take more out. I have to wait till Sunday to take out money again. If I have money left over from the week before than I take out less to add to the money I have left over. I have saved a lot this way. tee0206 6 years Debit card for me. I rarely have cash. ellie_K 6 years it's horrible, i know.... but i just don't like parting with my cash..... soulight 6 years I rely on my debit card way too much that now I only take so much out in the beginning of the week and if I run out then I'm done! It's crazy when you look at your statement and you see these stupid little purchases here and there at places like Starbucks just eating away at your balance. Angela123 6 years I mostly use my debit card. My paychecks get direct-deposited, so it doesnt make sense to me to withdraw cash that's already in there just so I can carry it around with me. I'll take some out to have if I know I am going somewhere like a concert or street fair. But even in the small-town south, it's rare these days to find any place that won't take plastic OR doesnt have an ATM nearby. PammyLZ 6 years I'm starting to move myself over to cash. Not only to track my spending better, but if I have cash in my hand, I will be more aware of what I'm spending it on. Also, as a bit irrational, and illogical as this reasoning may be.. I'm afraid of a total economic collapse. So, I'm pulling most of my paycheck out of the back to have the cash on hand, at least for the next few months. kendallina 6 years Debit, but I am trying to move to cash only so that I can be more mindful of my spending. BabyBearCutie 6 years I have been trying to get in the habit of using more cash and not relying on my debit card. But i commute by bus and i hate the thought of it sliding out my pocket or leaving my purse on the bus. (which i have done) with debit i can cxl my card, with cash I pretty much kiss it good buy. 130k 6 years I always use my debit card and never have cash. This has bitten me in the butt a couple of times but I just hate carrying cash around with me. I'm more liable to spend it if it's sitting in my wallet. sorrowja 6 years I rely on my debit card more because of the points I get each time I use my card. Nevertheless when I have cash I spend more when I use my debit card I spend less because each time I think of buying something I just tell myself that I don't have any cash . . . . LOL. dcfashionista 6 years I would say half and half. I use the debit card for any and everything and will still keep my cash which causes too much cash leaving my account. I am going to implement a cash budget and leave the debit card at home. I think that way I will spend less money. scissorz 6 years most small things i pay for with cash --- 50 and above is usually my debit land. i get cash tips at work so i always have it (never used to) and love it. people give you looks though, like when i'm looking for change and stuff...i blame those stupid visa commercials from awhile ago that made cash look like a total buzz kill. remember those? someone tries to use cash and the party like stops and everyone stares? i love using cash bigestivediscuit 6 years Cash ONLY except for things that are taken out by direct debit like my travel pass and phone bill, etc. I hate making little purchases here and there throughout the week with my debit card and not knowing how much exactly I've spent until I look at my online account. RockAndRepublic 6 years If i have cash on me, then cash. Since these days i mostly do not, it's debit.:( Marseeah 6 years I use my credit card for everything possible (and just flew to Paris for free on points from the credit card!) - and pay it off in full every month. amerikanbeanhead 6 years I just got a regular ATM card not a debit card so that I can mange my budget better, its just so much easier to spend spend spend away with a card. I give my myself a set limit of 40 bucks a week and when its gone its gone. I figure I would rather be the queen of cheap now and graduate with out college loans than live outside my means now and have loans to pay off later indielove 6 years Debit, for the most part. I tend to spend more money if I have cash in my wallet. I like being able to account for every penny I have spent. Tracking my purchases online helps me do so. HeidiMD 6 years I usually use my credit card to make most purchases. If I'm paying for something small (like a coffee), I'd rather use actual cash instead of my check card. I just don't like charging $3-$4 on my check card for some reason. Deidre 6 years I think I'm the opposite of a lot of people -- if I have cash, I tend to spend it on needless things (coffee, taxi instead of walking). So I use my debit card for everything since I always really think hard about a purchase before pulling out the plastic! Plus, much easier to track my expenses since they all show up online. kehinde75 6 years I use both! I usually pay a restaurant bill with my debit card and then leave a cash tip. But when it comes to grocery shopping I always use my debit card - it's just easier at the register. Besides, I always feel bad for the checkers when I hand them cash. As soon as I leave, I can see them reaching for their Purell hand sanitizer. meechie 6 years I don't want to carry a lot of cash so I use plastic more often than not. bransugar79 6 years I'm so bad I never ever have cash. Even if I want to get somethnig from the vending machine at work I have to ask my husband for bills in the morning. It's sad but it also helps me track my spending thelorax 6 years Cards, unless I'm going out with friends & there will be bill-splitting involved. ilanac13 6 years i typically use my debit card to make purchases, however i've been trying to take a set amount of cash out each week to try to budget better and it does work...it's just a lot harder.
