Do You Send Actual Postcards?

Did Technology Kill the Postcard?

While I remember gleefully picking out postcards to send to my pals as a kid, it's been quite some time since I've dropped a card at the post office on my travels. Nowadays, it's easy to share pics on Flickr and Facebook or even snap photos via the iPhone and send digitally using Postcard Express or as a hard copy with Postino.

Sure, I still see full racks of these notes stocked in stores, but is that supply a telling tale of novelty worn off? My mom happens to be a fan of sending these on vacation — even to me — yet she grew up in a different generation, and it's not like she has a smartphone with a camera to use the alternative. Either way, postcards could be a nice way to show friends you're thinking of them without spending a ton of cash, but is the gesture lost on this generation?

I can't really answer this poll. I'm heavily into technology, but I have this snail mail thing I do where I send postcards with my best friend back and forth year round. As most people, I still send cards for holidays and "get well soon", "thank you", "thinking of you", etc.... Also, I send telegrams for special occasions quite often. I use Their prices have gone up at least $2 since the last time I used them though. It's a nice gesture.

I have never been a huge fan of postcards. I used to receive them as a kid, but I never did buy any except to scrapbook.

I love postcards, but I haven't been anywhere in a while worth sending them from! However, the last time I was in Hawaii, I didn't send any - I totally just snapped a few pictures here and there and uploaded them to Facebook, then uploaded the good pictures from my camera in bulk when I got back. Maybe it'll be different if we get a chance to travel somewhere more exotic, but at the time it didn't seem worth spending the money since we were trying to travel super-cheap!
