Emirates Airlines Airbus A380

Mile-High Luxury: What a $14,635 First-Class Ticket Will Buy

While American carriers are busy finding ways to keep their current planes in flight, Dubai-based Emirates Airlines has launched a 14-hour flight from Dubai to New York on their brand new Airbus A380. The plane uses 20 percent less fuel than other planes built to hold almost 500 passengers.

Most of the 489 seats are in coach (average tickets cost $1,477), 76 seats are business-class ($9,571), and the 14 first-class private suites ($14,635) are luxurious in every sense of the word. First-class passengers get some privacy thanks to electronic doors, can freshen up before landing by taking a five minute in-flight shower, stay refreshed with a personal mini-bar, entertain themselves with a 23-inch high-definition TV screen, and eat whenever they please with on-demand service. Get a closer look at the expensive amenities in the gallery below!

That is too expensive! I understand if I was touring or something, I would want an ultra-luxurious plane to live in for months, but for a trip that only takes half a day? Not really worth it to me! Of course, it would totally be worth it if I had the means to pay for it! ;)

wow - if only i had the means to afford something like that. it's like living in luxury for a few hours. i think that the thing to remember is that a lot of what Dubai has to offer is for the extravagant tastes - and this is just an extension. if you can afford to go there, and travel and enjoy what Dubai has to offer, then i guess it's not such a stretch on the airline either. i'm sure that they did enough market research to know tat they will be able to sell the tickets at that cost and that people will be in high demand for it - so i'm not overly shocked to hear about this.

You know, I'm really not surprised by the cost. I just bought a business class ticket to Japan from Chicago for $8,400 and the first class ticket was about $11k and the flight to Dubai is even farther. First class flights to Buenos Aires from Chicago are close to $10k too.Of course, I would *never* buy one of these myself - it's for business and I think that's who would get these.

good god! that much money for one flight! wtffff? it looks nice but for that much? no way. that's like a thousand times the amount of even a 5 star hotel. they are insane if they think that is worth that much. for that much money i would expect them to be feeding me, showering me themselves, and giving me free gifts.

Wow! That is one pricey ticket! It looks really luxurious though.

Is each "suite" just one seat? I can't imagine sitting by myself for a 14 hour flight!

To be able to take a shower before landing would be awesome plus I am not sure I need all that stuff around me. I can not believe I am going to say this but it is a little much!
