Global Unemployment Rates

Lucky Them: Countries With the Lowest Unemployment Rates

With unemployment hovering at 9.2 percent in the US, it's nice to know that some parts of the world are doing a lot better. Many countries may have different measures of unemployment, so that may be part of the reason the figures are so low. CNN compiled a list of unemployment numbers around the world, and here are the countries with the lowest figures:

  • Qatar: 0.5 percent
  • Thailand: 0.5 percent
  • Singapore: 1.9 percent
  • Vietnam: 2.6 percent
  • Switzerland: 2.8 percent
  • Malaysia: 3 percent
  • South Korea: 3.2 percent

The survey also noted that America lags far behind neighboring countries, with Mexico clocking in at 5.2 percent and Canada at 7.4 percent. Are you surprised by the figures?
