Has Your Employer Addressed Swine Flu Concerns?

The world is buzzing about swine flu, so much that human resources in our office sent a company-wide email addressing the issue. It reminded employees to wash our hands, visit the doctor and stay home if we're feeling sick, and encouraged us to use the Purell dispensers around the office (Johnson & Johnson is a swine flu victor). Have you received something similar at your office?

I work in the staffing industry, so we got an email detailing what to do if an employee is sick, and how to tell them to stay home. It was kind of funny. pinkprincess, where do you live?? That sounds scary...

Spectra that is so odd my brother in law is a nurse and he was telling us that not even Tamiflu is working, one of his patients passed last night from swine. We all have access to log on from home so we will be working from home soon.

Yes, because I work in a hospital where we do flu testing, we have gone into full-on epidemic protocol. Which means wearing our N-95 tuberculosis masks when doing flu testing and doing them under a fume hood to minimize the risk of spreading it. Any flu tests that are positive are sent to the state for confirmation and the patient is put on Tamiflu immediately. Fortunately, swine flu seems to respond very well to the Tamiflu, so we're prescribing to anyone with a positive flu test, whether it's swine flu or not.

I work for a UK-based company and they have stopped all travel between the UK and Mexico/US and within Mexico and US. And don't come to work if you are sick.

Yes, we received a company-wide memo which says, among other things, that if you can't avoid traveling to and from Mexico, you must 1) obtain a note from your doctor following your trip stating it is safe for you to return to work, and 2) send it to HR in order to return to your job.

Yes, but I work for a giant corporation with offices all over the world (including thousands of employees in Mexico), and they sent out a global email memo.

No emails or memos....however, there are a bunch of hand sanitizers in the bathrooms, kitchens, and the office supplier made sure I had some Lysol at my desk. :)

Our company has issued a statement along the lines of: if you're sick, stay home. We'll work something out for you there. If it gets bad close to the office, we'll be shutting down our office. And hand sanitizer has been passed out.

I work at an elementary school, so yes. In fact, a school in our district was shut down yesterday and won't re-open until next week because of a likely case there.

Yes. We got one yesterday with the usual warnings: wash your hands and disinfect public areas.

Yup, we got an email on Monday, but mostly because we have a large office in Mexico and people wanted to know how they were getting on.
