Holiday Spending by Age and Region: How Money Are You

There's a general national consensus that we're spending less on holiday gifts this year, but lucky for retailers, consumers are still spending something. The amount Americans are allocating to holiday spending varies according to geographic region and age. Can you guess how much people are spending around the country?

MAAAANNN!!! I didn't get a darn thing right...I thought the holidays was the time of the year most folks splurged. $418 doesn't sound like overdoing it too me...especially for the people who have children.

Wow, all wrong! $418 is way less than what I spend over Christmas. I budgeted $900 this year... and that is just for immediate family and a few small gifts for friends.

2/3 although the $418 is a little high for me... I'm really cutting back on the gift giving this year.

None right?! I've been watching TV, maybe I heard wrong... I could have *sworn* that people were spending $700-something dollars this year, down from $900-something last year. It totally make sense, most people (especially kids!) want electronic stuff, and that gets really expensive...I mean, game systems are $200 on average, iPods in fun colors are like $200...and if you've got more than one person to buy that stuff for...it adds up!

I also thought it would be higher because I was thinking of people with kids. I thought they would bring the average way up.

Cordata, I thought the exact opposite! I think I just spend too much.

2/3. and I shouldve gotten 2 right, of course grandparents spend the most. I spend about average on gifts, I just have so many people to buy for!

$418 is a lot to spend on gifts! Or maybe I just have a lower than average number of friends.
