How to Throw an iPod Wedding

Readers Say an iPod Wedding Is Savvy, Not Tacky

If you're trying to figure out how to cut the costs of your wedding, you might want to go with using an iPod instead of a DJ or band. After all, most readers —63 percent — who were recently polled seem to think an iPod wedding is a good idea. Keep in mind that you still have to fork out some cash if you choose to go with the digital player. For example, you still have to pay to rent a sound system if you don't already have one. Still, the costs will be much lower than if you hired someone to DJ or play live music.

Even if you're using an iPod to play wedding music, it's advisable to have friends or family members man the player so you don't have to rush back to it if something goes wrong. It might be better if you assign the responsibility to a few people so everyone gets to enjoy the wedding party. Just make sure that the people you pick are usually the ones who can hold their liquor so they're not inebriated when they're managing your playlist; constant mistakes and interruptions may ruin the mood of the guests on the dance floor.

Here's another idea: using your laptop to manage the music instead of a small iPod. It can also be a great backup in case your iPod malfunctions.
