I've already informed my parents there is a chance I will move back in with them for awhile. Bad idea though, because now my mom is very excited and encouraging the idea, even if I don't lose my job!

I think our own ingenuity can be the backup plan. Necessity is the mother of invention, and I've been working hard to come up with new ideas to help my business make money. Got an exciting plan, and I can't wait to see if it works.

Emergency fund + freelance (I am fortunate to have a lot of contacts already...being somewhat of a workaholic seems to help that) + tutoring (already do it on the side) + substitute teaching. Money is money, so I'd be willing to consider pretty much any gig until I found another full-time opportunity. I'll go knock on wood now and hope I never need to put this plan into action.

I would take a paycut and go back to my old job. its just typing, but it pays the bills and lets me interview. AND they are hiring like its no ones business 365 days of the year and theyve been that way for 10 years +.

In theory I could freelance, but a) I don't have the contacts built up; and b) my company is cutting back on freelancers so I think others probably are too. So my backup plan is ... "Tall, Grande or Venti?" Not great, I know ...

I'm doing well on saving, luckily if I get let go (again) I can go back on unemployment which from before will be enough to keep me on top of my bills until I find a permanent job.Another for me in my profession I can at least go and be a temp for lots of different companies if need be.

No, but my resume is up to date, and it wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to go back to working for tips for a little while. My husband & I have enough in savings to take care of expenses for about 3 or 4 months, like psterling.

i'm one of those people that kind of always keeps their options open - even when things seem like they are settled. it's one of my biggest fears that i'll get to be 'too comfortable' and that's not helpful, so i've always looked for a plan b. it's hard right now with the way that the economy is - so it's good to have a fall back.

My husband and I have saved enough money to cover our mortgage and other bills for about 3 months if we both lost our jobs. Hopefully that would never happen but that would sustain us until we found other positions.

I don't have a 'Plan B' but it's tough to think about those things when you're trying to save up some money for your wedding at the same time. It's definitely good to have a back-up plan. I'd like to have at least 3 month's worth of salary in order to survive while looking for employment.

My back up plan has always been Hooters. Never been a waitress before and I heard they dont even hire those w/o experience, but there it is! That's Plan B! :P

Thankfully, my husband's current salary alone could more than easily sustain us. So I tend to think of his job as my backup plan. ;) But in all honesty, freelance is always an option in my field.
