I'm Asking: What Did You Spend on Holiday Gifts?

Your wallet may be feeling a little lonely this week after a very busy month, so don't forget to take it out and take stock of the receipts. Eighty percent of SavvySugar readers admitted to spending most of their holiday budget on gifts, followed by nine percent who spent on seasonal entertainment spreads.

How much cash did you throw down in the name of the season? Were you able to keep your spending under the limit you set for gifts? What was the total damage?

I'm having a hard time figuring it out! I'd say I spent about $1,000, but it was spread out over several months, so I honestly don't know for sure.

I spent around $1000 on everyone total. It woud've been fine if I hadn't have been paid off on Dec. 23rd. Thanks Company I worked for for 6 years!

We spent about $500 on gifts and entertaining; a lean year for us but good for the finances.

Yikes! We probably spent about $2000 but about half of this went to presents for me and my hubby. We went all out this year.

I actually splurged a bit this year, since I've never had enough money to buy my family gifts without asking for money from parents. That being said...I made a point to keep the spending reasonable....the only things i really splurged on was for my mother, so yeah.

Not too much this year--we stuck to our budget of around $300-$400 total on everyone. Our family agreed that we wanted a small Christmas this year without a lot of gifts. Even the kids in our family each only got a present or two from each relative.
