I'm Asking: What Inexpensive Splurges Make You Happy?

I'm Asking: What Inexpensive Splurges Make You Happy?

Living on a budget can make you feel deprived if you're not making room for little splurges here and there. The stringent spending might give you a saver's high at first but it can cause a spending spree later on that undoes your hard work. Planning for things you find worthy of splurging can help keep you motivated to reach your money goals.

To name a few, I enjoy little splurges like frozen yogurt (with toppings) on a hot day, above average bottles of wine, taco Tuesdays at a local brewery, and buying quality ingredients to make a divine meal at home that costs less than it would in a restaurant (but isn't exactly an inexpensive evening in). What inexpensive splurges make you happy?

Aww, thank you zawackirz! We have been managing okay. Having never been through a recession before, it's sort of scared me a bit, but I know going forward that I will always be a little more careful with my purchases, even when things are good! Luna, I too have been giving my self bold toes! I think I am going to continue to through the winter, just for a little pick me up under my socks!

Good luck ella1978 and everyone, I hope you have a good winter and the heating bills aren't too bad. :) Take care.

I need to allow myself some little splurges! My salary was reduced by 10% this summer (nothing compared to what so many of you are going through, I know) and combined with my personality...I've become super-stringent. All I can think about is fabulous sushi, vacations, and massages! :) I've been giving myself great, bold mani-pedi's lately. A little luxury I can look at all day long!

I'm unfortunately one of those deprived people right now. My fiance is not working, and is going to school full time (read: wracking up loans) and my salary was reduced to 80% back in February. We are basically close to the line with our finances every month, but heating season is just around the corner, and I will have to take money out of my savings just to pay my gas bill. Unfortunately, there aren't many things I get to splurge on. We find cheap wine and put in a movie for a date night, we turn the fans on high in the bedroom and snuggle in our covers (meaning, they aren't necessary, but they are nice), we painted the bathroom, and now we are registering for gifts (we call it faux shopping)... it makes me feel better!
