I'm Asking: What Jobs Have the Happiest Workers?

I'm Asking: What Jobs Have the Happiest Workers?

We've all heard the saying that the grass is always greener on the other side, and some careers do seem to maintain mostly happy workers. Job satisfaction is a tough thing to measure from the outside, but which of the people you know have jobs that make them happier than others?

I think chefs and people who work in the arts seem the happiest.

I would think that self-employed people might be the happiest workers.

I agree that it's hard to say that a particular job has a happier group of employees. I work in a restaurant - serving is an absolute shit job, there's no denying that. But we have a group of employees that 1)work really well together 2)enjoy serving as a type of work 3)really care, and I'd say we have some really happy employees. Despite serving, in general, being an incredibly shitty industry.

Any profession where you're doing what you love doing is definitely a key to being happy on the job. Most of my coworkers love their jobs, which makes it a fun environment to work in. I personally think that jobs that involve helping people of some sort give the most satisfaction in general...doctors, nurses, teachers, firefighters, police, etc. seem to really be the most passionate about their careers.

People who are doing exactly what they want to do. There's a lot of self-satisfaction in that.

I think if you love your field, you have a better chance of being happy. I hate my job (used to love it), but am absolutey happy with my field and degree choice. Because of that, I feel confident about changing jobs and finding one I can love. If I had to change fields...I think I'd be depressed and frightened!

I would say that it's the person being happy with what they are doing more than the job they are doing per se. A person may hate their job in one field, go to a different office in the same field and love it. I think there are too many variables. One thing I know is that its' tough being an architect now a days.
