I'm Asking: What's Your Most Spendy Day of the Week?

I'm Asking: What's Your Most Spendy Day of the Week?

Most of us have consistent spending patterns. We dish out more dough at the beginning of the month when our rent, mortgages, loans and utilities are due, and have a bit more play money after payday mid month. It's a cycle retailers are hip to — in fact, marketing teams push particular deals based on broad spending trends.

About 61 percent of SavvySugar readers say the recession has them staying in and spending less, but that doesn't mean all our habits are drastically different. I tend to keep my spending and eating out to a minimum during the week (largely because I am busy), which means most of my withdrawals occur on Friday and Saturday. When do you open your wallet most?

Any day can be spendy for me! When I go on vacation I spend the most but on a regular basis if I am in the mall it can be spendy! That is why I gave up the mall for lent!

Friday nights and Sunday afternoons...Friday nights I get together with friends for end of the work week dinner and drinks and on Sundays I go grocery shopping for the week ahead.

Sunday for sure...I go to the grocery store and to Walmart to stock up on household items. Plus, I fill my gas tank up for the week and my husband usually buys something or another at a farm auction. I probably spend 90% of my weekly budget on Sundays. It's nice though because then I don't have to shop for the rest of the week.

Probably Fri night or Saturday-errands and food shopping.

During the week, I am spending money for lunch. I also buy my household supplies during my lunch break also. Saturdays and Sundays are my spendy days becuase I tend to eat out, run more errands and find things that I need to purchase.

Definitely spend more on Saturdays, grocery shopping, clothes shopping with the girlfriends and then out to dinner...

I spend the most money on the weekends, that's when me and my guy eat out together. On the weekends I usually don't cook. Also that when I do a lot of my shopping.

Definitely the weekend.

Sunday, because both my husband and I aren't working, and we usually go out to eat and to the movies :]

Definitely Saturdays and Sundays. Saturdays I go shopping if I need clothes, something for the house, etc (if I'm going to go at all, not every Satruday) and Sundays are make the menu and do the grocery shopping days. I used to feel more spendy after my mid month paycheck but now I just put everything on my credit card (and pay it off every month) so I don't worry as much about my actual balance from day to day.

I would have to say on Sunday because that is when my husband and I go on little dates around the city.

i think that sundays tend to be my most spendy days. i don't have time to really go shopping during the week, so that leaves the weekends, and my fiance and i will typically go to my mom's house to see our dog on the weekend. Saturdays are usually a wash, but on sunday my mom and i will do some girl shopping stuff, and we'll spend more than any other day.

Sometime during the beginning of the week, when we have to stock up on stuff.

i buy food everyday, booze from the liquor store usually only on the friday or saturday, and shopping normally saturday or sunday but on any given day i could go out for dinner and get drinks or get a haircut or a pedicure or pay for parking or pay for gas, so i really can't generalize

I would say either Saturday or Sunday. Not a lot more than normal, but we'll tend to pick up a few things we wouldn't on a weekday (like cheese, or wine, or desserts, etc)

Saturdays, definitely. That's our shopping day. Mondays, Starangel? What kind of a job do you have?

definitely weekends but that's only because i do not spend money (except on groceries) when i'm alone. i would never eat out (not even take out) by myself and do not have time to shop during the week. so definitely friday and saturday night (dinner and bars) for me.

Monday. It's my shopping day.

Sunday's our shopping day -- we have some obligations up by the grocery store, so we do our grocery shopping, and since Target and Lowes are right there, we'll usually end up buying something for the house, or DVDs or something.

Friday and Saturday definitely! I almost always go out to dinner on either or both of these days and I should really stop. And I have to do my big "weekly" shop on the weekend, so I can sort myself out food-wise for the whole week ahead. So that's costly. At least I don't go "out" out usually on weekends though, otherwise that would be a real blow to my wallet. There's just something about eating out on Fridays though - I think it's because I was raised like that in my home, that we'd always have dinner out at a nice restaurant on Fridays and now that I'm working, it's a great day to get together with friends, catch-up and celebrate the end of the week.
