I'm Asking: Where Have You Cut Back to Save More?

I'm Asking: Where Have You Cut Back to Save More?

We all want to save more money in 2010, and while total deprivation is not the road to happy saving, trimming back on some of the extras we previously afforded ourselves can make the difference between an empty savings account and a flourishing one. I've cut back on driving to the office (the parking garage near my office costs $18 a day and that's with the early bird special!). I'm also trying to pack healthier lunches. The month is still young, so it's hard to gauge monthly savings, but I feel great about the changes!

What expenses have you been cutting back on recently?

I'm good about cutting back during the week, but it's on the wkends when I tend to go a little wild with eating out and social events...

I've started buying more in bulk and making less impulsive purchases at the grocery store. My goal is to stick to my list and only buy what I need!

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner from home all nights but two (and try to use coupons when possible). No going to bars more than once a week, I haven't bought a DVD or CD in years, no more netflix, I don't buy any clothing unless it is on sale anymore, I wash the car by myself, and a few other things. I've been really tight for cash. Now if only grocery and gas were cheaper

I haven't done a whole lot of cutting back. I'm pretty frugal and am always looking for a deal. I hate buying anything regular price and I kinda like the challenge of it.

I have cut back on going out to eat. FIRST, it makes me FAT. Second, your only paying to get fat. So I have cut back on a lot of eating out and make breakfast, lunch and dinner. I might go out in the weekends but just eat one time out. :-)

We haven't really had to cut back much, but we did find out that we can get all three of our vehicles insured for a LOT less money if we switch companies. So we're going to switch and save about $300-$400 a year on premiums.

I downgraded my internet to a slower speed, so I'm saving $10 a month and I don't notice a difference at all. I've also turned the heat down a few degrees and put on more layers. Luckily I live in FL so the cold should be over soon.
