While boutiques don't require a compass, a little direction could help you shop smarter. No doubt you know just where to look for the sale rack in stores that you frequent, but you'll handle a lot of full-priced items before finding the real sales in an unfamiliar store. In its May issue, Real Simple says you can count on most stores setting up their sale racks in the back left corner. There's no need to only shop the sale rack, but it's always a good place to start.
