Long-Term Unemployment

What's the Longest You've Been Unemployed?

We're facing a huge crisis with the long-term unemployed. Nearly half of those who are unemployed have been without a job for over six months. As we all know, the longer you stay unemployed, the lower your chances of being hired. That is partly due to employers preferring to hire those who are currently employed or who have recently lost their jobs.

How about you — what's the longest you've been unemployed?

I have not been unemployed in my "adult" life. I did chose "1-2 years" because I did not work during college (Aug 2006 I left my high school job and I didn't work again until my current job as of May 2008).

I've been unemployed since May. I've decided to go back to school. Will this look good on my resume even if I haven't had a job? I'm just really scared that I'm going to get certified and still not find a job. I've never been out of work this long before.
