Money Tip: Budget For Road Trips With This Website

Filling up the tank for my Fourth of July excursion cost $67 for one trip to the pump. It stings in that paper cut sort of way (it's just as painful every time!) but knowing what to expect before you embark on that Summer road trip will allow you to better budget your cash. It's especially helpful if you're planning on splitting the cost of gas among a group so that nobody is in the dark about what they'll need to contribute.

AAA Fuel cost calculator uses average regional gas prices to calculate the cost of your trip, and you'll need to enter your starting city, destination, and your vehicle's make, year and model. Because it uses regional prices the calculation should be looked at as an estimate but AAA does update the prices daily.

HA! Where is it 3.98 in the SW? I've been all over CO and AZ in the last two days. I was pleased as punch when I got $4.04. It's up to $4.19 in parts of Flagstaff, AZ right now. D:

That is a fascinating tool - and it's just what I was looking for. I'm going to DC for Labor Day and I was thinking about taking the train - probably $140 round trip. I thought driving would be cheaper, and it is, but not by as much as I thought. I still may take the train ... DC traffic on a holiday weekend is scary. Meanwhile, gas here is just slightly below the average for our region, so I feel lucky!

$4.47?! Wow. I feel for you guys on the West coast. That's rough. It's amusing (ok, "amusing" is not the word) to me how the various local, state, national governments are in such an uproar over the oil prices, but nobody's willing to decrease their taxes on it either. Hypocritical.

I haven't seen 4.47 in weeks. It was $4.59 last time I filled up I think. it's RIDICULOUS!
