I know that individual cogs in a large wheel don't have much control, but did anyone think that the non-stop escalation of housing values would continue forever? It was and is unrealistic that you can buy property and a year later have its value increase by 30% or 50% and be able to capitalize on that year after year. The only ones who capitalized were all the different companies processing paperwork and taking a fee here and a fee there. (hmmm, sounds like a credit card company) Now the entire country is paying for mortgages that should have never been given.

I know a lot of people at banks that lost their job recently. Take a look at how many real-estate jobs were lost too! It's pretty much crippled our local economy.

I know a number of people who have lost jobs because of the mortgage crisis - my mom was laid off twice in 2007, my brother once and my BFF twice, the second time right after Christmas!! Eek!

A friend of mine lost her job last year. She was a mortgage processor. Luckily she got a pretty good lay-off package. I'm just happy I got out in 2006. It was just beginning to go downhill then.
