It's not news that the dollar has been on a slippery slope for awhile now, and some stores in New York are responding by putting up Euros Accepted signs in their windows. As one shop owner put it, "We had decided that money is money," and with the slew of European tourists flocking to New York to take advantage of the favorable exchange rates the move makes perfect business sense.
Business owners are not only looking out for their profits right now, they're thinking about other ways the influx of euros could benefit them in the future. One owner explained, "I'm happy if I take in 200 euros, because what I do is keep them. So when I go back to Paris, I don't have to go through the nightmare of going to an exchange place."
