Reasons For Leaving a Job

I'm Asking: Why Did You Leave Your Last Job?

There are countless reasons why you might leave a job: Relocation, lack of challenge or opportunity, you got a better offer, money wasn't good enough, you didn't like the work environment or your co-workers, etc. Most of us get the urge to move on from a job at one point or another — what was the deal breaker for you and your last job?

I moved away for college. That's why I've quit all of my jobs except 1. That one was because I got looked over again and again for promotions, and the hours were crappy.

It ended. I worked on a Senate campaign, and the election came around, and it was over. I didn't go on to a Presidential campaign b/c my student loan lenders were wanting money, and I was wanting money too. I will probably go back someday, but in a different position on the campaign. I miss it.

It was a combination of boredom, lazy co-workers and money. And I'm in the same boat now, lol.

there are so many reasons why i left my last job. i felt that i wasn't appreciated, and i made no money for what i did. i was also bored with the place that i lived - even though everyone considers it to be paradise so i looked into other opportunities back in NYC and i got really lucky to get a great job with better pay, more recognizition etc.

HAHA funny you ask this because TODAY is my LAST DAY at my current job. I'm leaving because of 1) a desire for "normal" working hours (i.e., 8-5 or 9-6 -- right now I work 6-3, TOO EARLY!) and 2) because I have major problems with two coworkers that haven't been properly addressed, even though complaints were heard about these 2 from several departments. One of them is rude, and tries to do everyone else's job, while the other doesn't do any work at all! It's so sad. So I'm moving on to a job with normal hours, where I will be in charge of something, have a great female boss who I can relate to, not to mention I'll get a laptop and a raise!

The reason that I wrote down on my 2 weeks notice paper was because I needed more time for school work and didn't want to take night classes anymore. The REAL reason is a doozie!! I'm 20 (almost 21) and was the receptionist for a long time, until the girl who did concrete got switched to another position, so the concrete guy gave me her position. Well, she had a crush on the concrete guy, didn't like that we shared a tiny, TINY office, and tried to sabotage me from the get go. Many a day crying in said tiny office. Finally the accountant and I moved into a seperate office building, hoping to curb the drama but it only increased it! 15 different people were picking up checks on Friday, some weren't getting into the bank on time, it was a mess, so I took control and said I was the ONLY person doing it because I was competent enough to get everything in the bank and on time, and the accountant her part and the other girl her part. Well in July a company double paid us, they didn't realize they double paid us, and we didn't know, but she just started screaming at me that if I would check my f'ing books, this would not happen and it was all my f'ing fault. I was hysterical, and since she was at the big office, she made a huge deal out of it and everyone hated me, for NO reason. I figured that I'm only 20, I have the rest of my life to get cussed out by people, and certainly from people who are not 3 years older than me. She constantly behaved unprofessionally. Sadly, she still works there and I'm down to making minimum wage :( Its been a while since I got all that out, it makes me feel better!

OMG.. I worked as a retail manager for the last year... it was HORRIBLE. My boss didn't back me up on anything and the hours were terrible- I can totally relate to the 10-12 hr days!! I used to come home and cry every night because I could not believe this was my life!! So one day I just called my boss and told him I was not coming back. It was the best decision I ever made. I am so much happier now!

Overworked - 12 to 15 hour days... constant travel. No raise in 2 years... also no bonus in 2 years. I realized I was a slave. I gave no notice because the day I left, I was screamed at for accidently sending something out to one of my clients when my superior told me it was okay. It was a horrible place to work, but the insurance was actually really good. Now I work decent hours most of the time, but my insurance is HORRIBLE... but I make 50% more money...
