Savvy Savings Challenge: I Cheated — Did You?

We're hosting a 40-day Savvy Savings Challenge in the SavvySugar Community with the hopes of helping one another make smarter choices and build our piggy banks. I've promised to forgo all unnecessary spending — I'm not allowed to drive to work for convenience or clothes shop — for all of Lent. I've invited you all to join in the savings group and make your own sacrifices, and now I want to know how your mission is going. How am I doing, and how can you get in on the savings? Find out when you

.

I'm an honest gal, which is why I have to admit I've cheated. I've done an incredible job of staying away from clothes stores — or at least not buying anything — but for the most part, not shopping is pretty simple for me. I just don't shop. Case closed. Cutting driving to work out of the equation has been more tough. When I'm running late in the morning or it's raining, it takes all my precoffee willpower to resist the temptation to cruise on in instead of waiting at the bus stop. Last week, I made plans to have dinner with a friend after work and realized it was going to wreck my night if I didn't drive. (No one wants to take the bus after dinner, am I right?!) So I drove and paid $18 for my car to sit in a lot while I worked. I felt bad for sneaking it in, but a girl's gotta be social, and I've been so good.

Have you joined my mission yet and, if so, have you cheated or are you staying strong? Join the Savvy Savings Challenge and share your savings plan, then update the group daily or weekly with your pitfalls and success stories. The community and I will be your personal finance trainers!

I just did yesterday, but I had a free drink coupon for Starbucks eating a hole in my pocket! I immediately felt guilty since there are so few days left. Well, that and the barista made me the wrong drink so I cheated for nothing. Mocha Light Frap NOT White Mocha Frap! *Shakes fist*

Not cheating, exactly . . . but starting to feel guilty that my boyfriend has been subsidizing my frozen yogurt purchases since I vowed to give it up. With my savings from the challenge, I think I need to buy him a gift!
