Courtney Oliver is a 10-year-old who just completed the college course work to be a veterinary assistant and is currently volunteering at a vet hospital in Olympia, Wash. The law says she's too young to be in surgery alone, but imagine how skilled she'll be by the time she can be! She told the news that she knew early in life that veterinary work was for her and said, "I have a dog Maggie and two hamsters and I just thought: 'Well, if I have so many animals why don't I just work with them?'" She added that she "might as well get it done early as get it done late." Well how about that!
As cute as Courtney is, she also has a mature perspective on choosing a career. Her message seems rather simple: Do what makes sense to you and don't over think it.
