Wealth Psychologist

Definition: Wealth Psychologist

Perhaps less lottery winners would blow through their winnings within a few years if they had wealth psychologists at their disposal. These professionals are also known as money psychologists and wealth counselors, and their services are used by people who need guidance dealing with the emotional aspects of money.

Sudden wealth, weather it's earned, from a lucky win, or inherited, means a whole world of options open up. Wealth psychologists help the newly moneyed to understand their situations but are also skilled in dealing with other tricky circumstances, like helping to manage family business issues and assisting couples from different financial backgrounds in building a common ground.

Interesting. I've heard that people who win the lottery are more likely to go bankrupt than before they won the lottery. The concept of money is difficult sometimes.

Good concept. But, people who do not believe in seeking psychological help will not seek this type of help. Sometimes people spend b/c of the need to have and the need to want to help out love ones and sometimes the people they will help will steer them away from this type of help b/c we all know what the professionals will say, save, use a little, maybe give some but in no way buy a house and cars for people.

i think that a financial/wealth counselor is something that could be really helpful to those who just win the lottery. more often than not, we hear about how the winners of the lottery end up with nothing left since EVERYONE comes out of the woodwork to ask for things, and people take advantage of you. also, a lot of people don't realize that there are taxes and other fees that you pay when you have that kind of money - not just at the initial winning, but also for the years that you have it, and i think that having someone guide you with what you should do, you will somehow manage to keep more and perhaps grow the money for future needs/wants. if i won the lottery, i would certainly work with someone on how to best deal with the winnings, and how to deal with people when they come to me with requests. you never want to feel like you're not giving to others when they seem to need it, but you also don't want to give it all away just because people ask.
