What Do You Do For Work?

I'm Asking: So, What Do You Do?

You've probably been asked this question more times than you can count. It's a small talk go-to question because it's not too personal and the question doesn't seem complicated.

I'm not trying to make small talk with you all, I'm just trying to get to know you better. We spend so much time discussing job issues around here, and I'd love to know what you're up to Monday through Friday. So, tell me, what do you do for work?

I work in Investment Promotion for my country. We basically promote, attract and facilitate foreign direct investment. We attend Outward Missions and host Inward Missions, where we network with businessmen, investors, etc. We also assist foreign investors in setting up their businesses locally. However, for the past couple of months, I have been seconded to work at the National Secretariat in preparation for the Summit of the Americas. I am working in the Protocol department on the Spouses' Program. i love it!

Wow, I love reading everyone's jobs!! Insanitypepper, your response made me laugh. :D I work as a Project Manager for a Medical Communications agency. We support pharma with their marketing and education (healthcare professional and patient) initiatives by organizing meetings, conferences, publishing booklets, newsletters, books, producing videos/online resources - basically anything to do with communicating. We work with government and universities too when working in the education arm. I work with healthcare professionals (eg, doctors, nurses, pharmacists), graphic designers, production companies, AV companies, editors, writers, etc. I was promoted to Project Manager about 6 months ago and I love it much more than coordinating - the projects really are mine to see through from beginning to end.
