I will likely take one next year in Germany. My goal is to become fluent in their language. It definitely will be helpful for me, career-wise.

i wish that i had some reason to take a sabbatical - but unfortunately - i can't really justify it in the advertising world can i? when i was younger, i used to think that it was a bad thing to take one and that it mean that you were going to get treatment or something. it was really funny when i had a music teacher that went on one - and well...i guess it was legitimate but i needed someone to explain that to me :)

I am planning on taking a 3-month sabbatical in 2011 to learn a foreign language abroad. (3 years away because i want to make sure my workplace has known me long enough to say ok, or I have felt I have been there long enough to say goodbye if they say no). 6 weeks of intense language study - 4 weeks of traveling in that country to better my language skills and attend professional conferences, and then 2 weeks of stopping somewhere else for more typical vacation fun.
