What Time Do You Start Work?

If you're living your nine to five like a Dolly Parton song your hours are probably cut out for you; However, I have very few friends who actually work a traditional schedule and arrive at work right at nine. Do you catch the worm or slip in right before lunch?

I work a 9/80 schedule...80 hours in 9 days. That means 7:30-5 M-Th. 8:30-5 Friday, off every other Friday. Most days I will come in at 7am so that I can have off a half day on my working Fridays. That's more like a 4/10 schedule.90% of my company is on the 9/80 schedule, so every other Friday its a ghost town.

Usually 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with 45 minutes for commuting each way. But about once a week it's 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

I make my own hours as I work offsite at a clients office, but I try and be in by 9 and out by 5 to 5. We have heaps of traffic queuing outside if I leave at 5! But its nice as if I need a day at home to collect a package or go to the docs, I just stay home. I have it very lucky!

I get in between 8:30 and 9:15 AM (closer to 9:00) and leave anytime between 4:00 and 7:00 PM, depending on how busy things are. My boss never knows where I am, but if she needs me, she'll just e-mail me and tell me to call her.

I work for myself, so generally I do my self-maintenance and get to the computer somewhere between 10 am and noon.

Official office hours are 8:30-5:30 but my supervisor is okay with me working 9-6. Traffic is horrible and I'd have to wake up an hours earlier just to be at work 30 mins earlier. I'm glad he sees the plus side.

I'm an independent contractor who mostly works from home, so I make my own hours, though I do try to conform them to my husband's office hours. We're both in the computer game industry, which is typically very lax and late-in-the-day oriented, except during crunch to get a game out the door. When he's not crunching, he has to put in 8 hours, excepting any time he takes for lunch, and everyone is expected to be in the office for the core hours of 10am to 4pm. They set their hours beyond that, though. Right now he's crunching to get a big game out in time for Christmas, so they're all working 12 hour days, with the core hours now 10am to 8pm or so, with the rest of the 12 hours filled out wherever each worker wants. Crunch should be over by the end of the month though, hopefully. :P
