I've been going to the same accountant for the past few years. Before that, I was doing my own because I had just graduated from college so my returns were pretty straightforward. But now that I have business-related deductions, my returns are pretty complicated, so I leave all of that to my accountant. I do, however, make sure that throughout the year, I keep my tax-related documentation organized in one place. That way, when tax season rolls around, all I have is one folder ready to bring to my accountant. He appreciates the organization, since he's busier than ever at this time of the year.

I have an accountant that takes care of my filings. For years, I did my own, but they are now very complicated, so it is worthwhile to have a good accountant. I am almost ready to send everything in, I'm just rechecking to make sure all charitable donations have their documentation, otherwise everything is in an envelope ready to go!

As a student it's ridiculously easy, and even then my dad them for me. I going to try to do it myself this year. Wish me luck!

We hired someone last year to figure out why we were always owing money. Now that we know and fixed the problem, I'll do them myself this year.

Mine are super straight forward, so I do them myself.

I've always "paid" my mom, a former accountant, in with a really nice lunch for doing mine. This year, I'm going with a CPA since I had crazy health insurance and university stuff.

lol-I'm in the same boat as hithatsmybike-not working in my preferred career just yet. I qualify for low-income free tax help through my county gov't. My taxes are very simple but I like the fact that the trained volunteers will help me to make sure that I don't make any mistakes.

Last year I had someone do them, but I'm thinking of trying it myself this year. I'm just worried I'll do it wrong, or not get all the money back that I could. bingbingboom, I went to HR block or one of those chain places last year and it cost me about $160. I think they charge per paper that you have or something like that and mine was pretty simple. But I did get almost $1000 bucks back, so that was nice. You could prolly just call one of those places and ask.

I do my own, I used to do them for people when I worked at a CPA firm. Buuuut, it's the 26th, and I'm still waiting on two of my three W-2s! It's so frustrating!

I do it myself. My husband would have no problems with doing them, but he sees it as a chore while I actually kind of enjoy it; so I take it over. My mom always did ours when I was growing up, and let me 'help'. So, along with some hard-wiring in my brain, it brings back fond memories of my mom explaining some of this grown-up stuff at the kitchen table.

Normally I use Turbo tax, but I'm thinking about hiring someone from HR Block this year since I've got my deduction possibilities than I can figure out myself. Does anyone know how much a basic session costs from HR Block?

I work during the tax season as a Tax Preparer...so, I'm doing my own, but seeing as I'm on the clock while I do - I guess I'm hiring myself?

I'm doing my own. I don't have much income so it's pretty straight-forward lol I hate doing them though. As soon as I have some semblance of a career and a salary, I'll be paying someone to do it instead.

I do my own (with Mom's help). They're not complicated enough to need outside help yet.
