Are You Giving Your Mom the Gift of Time For Mother's Day?

Are You Giving Your Mom the Gift of Time For Mother's Day?

Moms are synonymous with TLC, so showing them appreciation on Mother's Day is the least we can do. ABC News polled moms across the country about what they want for their holiday, and instead of flowers or candy most responded with things like help around the yard or house, homemade meals cooked by someone else, and quality time with the family.

While ABC credits the recession for moms' desire to choose time over material gifts this Mother's Day, I question if the economy really has much to do with their answers. Time with their kids is hardly a gift moms typically take for granted. What do you think — are you spending time with your mom because it's free, or because that's the best gift around?

I wish I could, but we don't live in the same state. I will be visiting at the end of this month though!

I'll be spending the day with her - and giving her the gift of her daughter graduating from college (although she paid for it, haha) since my commencement is on Mother's Day. My brother's also coming so I'm going to try and persuade him to work with me to do something else special for her that day, but it will probably entail me doing all of it and him taking credit @_@.

Yes, I am cooking dinner for my mom (and doing the dishes afterward).

Yep, that's the plan. My sis and I went in together on a pair of earrings for her and we're going over to her house tomorrow to help her clean her house. It's something that she's needed help with for several years, so we're going to pitch in and help her out. When I was growing up, I used to give her the gift of cleaning the house a lot...she's a really bad housekeeper, so she needs all the help she can get. I always loved seeing how happy it made her to see the kitchen all spic-and-span...it was always better than getting her an actual gift. Maybe next year my sis and I will hire a maid for her, lol.

I work in the same office as my mom so I spend more time with her than pretty much anyone else haha... I'm taking her and her mom for dinner at the marina instead of a wrap-able gift.

I'm spending time and I got her a gift (which I normally don't do because I would take her out to lunch). I only wish my MIL lived closer because I would like to see her too.

Yes! Now that she moved to the same city as me and my bro, we're planning on taking her to the local farmer's market for lunch. I haven't been able to spend actual Mother's Day with my mama for years, so this will be great!

I'm spending on her (I ended up spending more than what my budget allowed, too) and I'm also spending the DAY with her. I think it means more to a mom to have her kids visit her, than to just mail them a gift or something.
