We planned our wedding ourselves, but hired a neighbor to act as the "day of" coordinator (so the bride/ groom/ family could enjoy the day and not worry)

No, I can do it with the help of my family. My middle sister hired one and she ended up being really bossy and rude. I have connections because my Mom was a wedding Photographer for 25+ years (still does it occasionally, smaller weddings), so she knows what to do. I could see wanting one for a very large wedding though.
