Are You Taking Advantage of Memorial Day Sales?

As with most US national holidays, retailers turn each one into opportunities to get you inside their air-conditioned stores. They know you most likely have the day off from work and have extra time on your hands, and want you to come and celebrate your holiday weekend with them. Have you jumped on any Memorial Day sales or are you spending the weekend doing activities that don't involve shopping?

I got a few basics at Old Navy. They were having a 40% off sale.

Bigestivediscuit, oh man, people really can be pretty scary ESPECIALLY if there's one item that's realllllly marked down and everyone wants it. The holidays are the worst because everyone is stressed, everything in the stores is strewn everywhere, and it's always hard to find that perfect thing you're looking for anyways.

My mom and I went to Macy's on Saturday, then my boyfriend and I went all over the mall on Sunday. Then on Monday I rested!

I don't like shopping during holidays because like shanimalcracker said, people tend to be a little insane and I don't deal well with hoards of people flocking to one clothing (or whatever) rack! It's more like retail stress than retail therapy.

Trust me, I wanted to. But need to save the money, I didn't even go near the mall.

I wasn't really planning on taking advantage of the sales. I think that people who swarm to sales can be kind of scary and hyper-aggressive. However, I've been needing a new laptop since my Vaio broke after college last year. (Since then, I've been using one of my parents' old laptops that I don't really like.) Office Depot had a really good convertible tablet laptop on sale for $599 with instant rebate and mail-in rebate; surprisingly, it had really good reviews and specifications. The original price was $1099 at Office Depot and even higher at other stores. I would consider this a success, especially since all we did was call in, see if they had it, and order it in-store. None of that waking up at 5AM for me!
