Your Commute: Love It or Hate It?

When bigestivediscuit shared that she enjoys her 45-minute commute because it gives her a chance to zone out and have "me" time, it made me wonder how the rest of you feel about the time you spend going to and from work. Do you love it or hate it?

Hate it. Commuting to NYC can be a nightmare where 1-2 hour commutes are "normal." My commute is 45 mins door-to-door, but it's a pain being crammed into a train and having to carry all my stuff (work laptop, gym clothes, etc). In the summer is the worst when you feel like you might suffocate waiting for the subway and carrying around all my stuff doesn't help! I envy all of you who have commutes <25 minutes.. amazing! Enjoy it! :)

I much prefer commuting by train instead of driving to work. I like the eco-friendliness of public transportation and it give me time to think without worrying about endangering other travelers. The only think to watch out for are the suspicious characters on the trains.

Eh, I don't really care. It doesn't take me that long unless it snows or there's an accident...

When I stay with my boyfriend, we have a 45 minute commute. Since we work at the same place, we are able to spend a little time together and relax together before we're stuck at our desks not seeing each other until the end of the day. It's a nice little bonus.

I drive about 100 miles every day and I leave every morning at 5:20 am. Not much to love. I wish I could move closer to my school, but the area around my school (and within a 20-mile radius) is simply for rich people.

Don't love it and don't hate it. I try to make it as comfortable as possible by ensuring I get a seat which is the hardest part, however it all depends on the irritating individuals I have to commute with. By that I mean their smell, make annoying noises, coughing, throat clearing. Which is why I can't do without my MP3 player blocks out the noise, well except for the smelly and the 3 times my size man who decides to squash me up. Well there you go my daily commute to work :-)

I love it... 20 minutes door to door... and the stop in the photo is the stop before my stop.

I hate it. I have to take public trans. in Miami and well, there isn't really public trans. to speak of. I spend about 30 minutes commuting to and from work and another 45 minutes to get to school, and let me tell you, waiting in the hot sun in 90 degree weather for the bus to show up is no picnic.

I love mine. It's not long and I get to look at Lake Michigan on my way to work.

I think I'd like it a lot less if I had to drive. :( I think part of the reason why I enjoy it now is because I don't have to get behind the wheel! Of course, that poses a lot more problems e.g. certain Tube lines are down, the bus doesn't come on time, etc. but I think it's even more stressful when you're driving.

I definitely hate spending 45-60 minutes or more stuck in traffic. Last Tuesday my drive to work was an hour and 35 minutes. Commuting blows...

My commute is all through residential area's and traffic with a TON of stop lights. I only live 5 miles from my job, but it takes me 20 minutes to get there!

it depends - the dc commute can be quiet and reflective if you get there early enough. if you are always late like me, it's crowded and uncomfortable. but you get a minute to sit down (maybe!) and listen to your ipod before you get off.

I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. It takes me 45 minutes to get to work door to door. I wish it was shorter so I can have more sleep time.

I'm indifferent. I have 45-minute door-to-door commute, 25 minutes of which is walking. It's not a nice area to walk in, and I don't enjoy beeing squeezed like a sardine on a crowded train, but there are worse things in life.

I love it. I bought a really nice car with leather and aircon etc, and its so comfortable. I listen to my music, sing along, enjoy the drive, and am so much more relaxed when I get home!

it's a 10min walk to the train, and then like, a 30 second ride. so short. It's nice.

I love it. From the time that I leave my house to the time that I arrive at the parking garage on my college campus, it's only about a 15 minute drive. It's not too long so I don't get too impatient, but its long enough that I can listen to a few songs on my ipod and drink most of my coffee before I get there. I also like having alone time in the car, where I can pick my own music without having to appease everyone else.

Hated it when I commuted. I live 6 minutes from work (and my daughter's school) now - and LOVE it!

it's waaaaaay better than i was expecting it to be. the only thing that'd make it better would be cooler temperatures or a functioning air conditioner!
