Your Two Cents: Do You Respect Your Boss?

Most TV bosses are modeled after mythical professional monsters or clueless middle managers, so I've always been intrigued by the shifty hierarchical relationships on House.

Dr. Lisa Cuddy is the Dean of Medicine and the smart and stable boss to Dr. House's defiant villain employee character. Cuddy has to constantly fight House's inability to walk the line, but at the end of the day he does respect her. Most of us can't disrespect (or disregard) our bosses the way House does, but not all bosses are worthy of your admiration and esteem. Has your boss earned your respect?

I respect my boss--the X boss.he is emulative and once he want to reach a goal, he'll never miss it. I think his power can lead followers to work even harder. His personality is nice most of the time, we dine and sing together when we are happy to, his voice is amazing too...!

My boss hasn't been in my industry very long and she's not very savvy at ALL. And her boss is even WORSE. Probably why I don't respect my boss' experience: if she got it from her boss, it's not good. But my boss' boss' boss? Totally a badass. Love him.

My current boss is incredible and I respect her a lot. But my old boss was a nightmare...no one respected him and he was a womanizing, alcoholic, sleazeball. Glad I don't work for him anymore.

I am never disrespectful to my boss because he's, well, my boss. However, I don't respect him much as a person. I don't mind the fact that he can play and joke in the office. I don't like that he likes to stir up conflict and then sit back and watch. It also bothers me that he tries to become too involved in my personal life and gives me unsolicited advice.

I love my boss, personally and professionally. He is the nicest guy in the entire world. He makes sure everyone knows they're appreciated and he never loses perspective or focus. He is a great boss and a great mentor.

i don't know if there's a right answer for this. on some things, i do respect my boss - she's been in the industry for a long time that i know that here's a lot that i can learn from her,but i don't share the same work ethic that she has so in that instance i can't

Yes, mostly. My boss is very fair and kind. But sometimes he ends up being TOO kind. Doormat. But overall, he is a saint compared to other bosses I've had.

I used to respect my boss, but a series of events involving a co worker who used to work here, but then resigned, made me lose my respect for her. She just didn't seem to get that at 22 and 23 years old we will be looking for bigger and better opportunities, and you can't take that personally when we decide to leave.

My boss is absolutely lovely. She is such a kind woman but strong and powerful when the situation demands it. She is never mean or hurtful, and I look up to her in every way.I even like her boss who's a bloke as he is very kind as well and they are both very supportive of all of our careers.I like to think its karma for my previous horrible bosses.

I used to but after working for him I have found out how unethical he can be and I am really looking forward to my last day. The stress has really taken a toll on me and I am over it. The money was great and it has helped me get back on track but it is/was totally not worth it!

My direct boss, yes. She knows what I do, she knows it's hard, and she helps when she can. The head of my department, not really. He doesn't know anything about what I do but he still gets to tell me how to do my job - and he doesn't seem to care when his preferences make my job harder.

Sure, he throws paperclips and rubber bands at me. But he also wore the "pretty pretty princess" crown we bought him.
