11 Things Introverts Know to Be True

Your Two Cents: Are You Leaving Work Early to Vote Today?

Casting your vote for the next US president should be a priority today, and we can expect Election Day voting lines to be on the longer side this year. Here in California the polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m., so hopefully the long hours encourage everyone to get out and vote. Will you be leaving work early or taking time out of your day to vote?

Absentee ballot. Almost everyone I work with is not a U.S. citizen, so there is no way we would have been able to leave early, anyway.

I woke up at the crack of dawn to ensure that when the polls open at 7 I would give myself at least an hour and a half to wait in line and vote since I have to be at work by 8:30, and I only needed an hour and 10 mintues of that leeway! :-)

I was late to work so that I could vote this morning. However, it was not the voting itself that took a long time. I actually only waited in line for less than 5 minutes! I take public transportation to work and since I had missed all the peak hour morning trains, I had to wait around for the next train.

I did the absentee ballot thing, it's just simpler that way.

I love absentee voting -- it's great to sit there with my ballot and all the voting info and take all the time I need. Turned it in last week. But HUGE props to everyone who's going out there today and waiting in long lines. Apparently, polling workers say the least busy times are late morning (before lunch) and early afternoon (after lunch). Know how you want to vote when you get there so people in line can get in sooner too!

I'm going to swing by on my lunch break (my polling place is an elementary school that I can literally see the back of from my office) and see, but if the lines look long I'll just go back on my way home from work. We have investors coming by today, so the boss wants us all back in our desks by 1:30 "looking like we're working".
