From starlets to rock stars, it feels like there was barely a break between all the DUIs, jail time and loitering in drug stores. And here are the photos to prove it. Most Shocking Headlines: Paris in and Out of Jail

Paris Hilton kicked off what proved to be a pivotal year by pleading not guilty to her September DUI charge. Before she even got her sentence, her personal life was thrown into disarray a few weeks later when a little website called Paris Exposed hit the Internet, offering up access to lots of private videos, photos, notes and letters revealing all sorts of juicy tidbits about Paris' scandalous life as a party girl.

In late February Paris had more car troubles - this time she was pulled over for driving without the headlights on and for driving with a suspended license. In March the rumors started flying that Paris' problems with the law could land her in jail, and sure enough, in May she was sentenced to serve 45 days in prison. Her sentence was quickly cut down to 23 days, but we still never thought we would ever see the day where she would don an orange jumpsuit. However, the heiress quietly checked herself into a facility immediately after leaving the MTV Movie Awards, complete with a glamorous new mug shot.

We weren't surprised that Paris was released three days later due to a medical condition and given a new sentence of 40 days house arrest with an ankle monitor. Unfortunately for Paris, she barely had time to settle back into her house before she was carted back to jail with tears streaming down her face the very next day. After serving her 23 days, Paris strutted out on June 25 with a huge smile. A few days later she gave Larry King her first post-jail interview where she claimed that she never did drugs and was now a changed person who was going to be more responsible and charitable. Paris did spend some time giving back in the months following her jail time, but by December she was back to her standard partying ways. We will give her credit for her best decision of 2007 - she finally hired a driver.

2007 Shocking Headlines: Anna Nicole Smith's Controversial Death

For the next 10 days, we're highlighting our most shocking stories of the year as part of our Best of 2007 coverage. We hope you enjoy this look back at some of the posts and stories that we certainly weren't expecting to see.

While the end of 2006 brought both lifetime highs - the birth of Dannielynn, her wedding to Howard K. Stern - and lows - the death of her son Daniel - to Anna Nicole Smith, everyone hoped that 2007 would finally be a time of peace. Sadly, this was never to be, as she unexpectedly passed away on February 8 in a situation that seemed scarily shady from the get go. From that moment we were thrust into a 24/7 new cycle of Anna stories from the questionable paternity of her child to a judge who was all about the showmanship. No one was shocked when Larry Birkhead turned out to be the father and, somehow, the unlikely hero of the whole mess. He seems to be living peacefully and happily with his daughter now, while Howard K. Stern remains a part of her life. Anna Nicole Smith will always be remembered as one of the biggest headlines of this year, and hopefully in 2008 she will finally rest in peace.

Most Shocking Headlines: Nick Hogan's Car Accident

We've been counting down the most shocking headlines of 2007, and we'll be revealing one more each day through December 21. We hope you enjoy this look back at some of the posts and stories that we certainly weren't expecting to see.

While most of this year for Hulk Hogan and his family consisted of another season for Hogan Knows Best and Brooke's near constant inclusion on worst dressed lists, in late August the family suffered a tragedy, changing their year and lives irreparably. Nick Hogan was the driver in a serious car accident that left his passenger and good friend, John Graziano, in a vegetative state. Details quickly emerged that he was allegedly involved in a street race at the time and had a pretty terrible record of traffic (and whoa, speeding) violations. Nick's license was suspended and he was eventually arrested, but that is the least of his worries as Graziano, an Iraq war vet, remains in the hospital and is not expected to recover. There are also stories that underage Nick had been drinking before getting behind the wheel that fateful day. The stress of the tragedy proved to be too much for the family, and in late November Linda Hogan filed for divorce from Hulk after over 20 years of marriage. Hulk recently said he feels hopeful about both situations. I'm sure that he hopes 2008 and his premiere as the host of American Gladiators is a new beginning in more ways than one. As we look back on this story, our thoughts go out to the Graziano family.

Most Shocking Headlines: Britney's Bald Breakdown

It would take forever (literally) to try and recount everything Miss Britney Spears shocked us with this year. From the moment the clock struck midnight on 2007, her life has been a nonstop array of usually bizarre, often heartbreaking, sometimes infuriating and occasionally disastrous events. But in the end, there's one night that will stand out, and some may say changed the course of her life. To be fair, we should have known 2007 was off to a bad start when she passed out hosting her NYE party in Vegas, was in and out of rehab, and out partying every night. Even so, we weren't prepared for the shock of February 16, when late Friday night Britney stopped off at a random Tarzana hair salon and took the clippers to her own head.

While it was no big secret that Britney was in the midst of a personal breakdown, this moment was completely unexpected. It's been the most referenced event in her life this year, by far, and that's competing with some seriously crazy things. From there, it was back in (and out and in again) of rehab, that still outgoing custody battle, her album, and about a zillion other rumors. Plus, now she's not the only Spears girl making big time headlines. Whether or not she ever actually lets us see her real hair again, here's to hoping that her life quiets down (in the best possible way) in 2008.
