2008 MTV VMAs: Winners And Wicked Performances

As I told you earlier, Britney Spears won three awards last night, sweeping the board at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. After her cringeworthy comeback performance last year, it felt like this year she'd finally got it all together - she looked stunning in her mini-dress as she opened the show with a skit featuring Jonah Hill (UK readers, you can watch it all unfold on MTV tonight from 8pm). Rihanna, T.I, Christina Aguilera and the Jonas Brothers also put on some memorable performances, with Pink's spectacle of a performance standing out as a particular highlight.

Host Russell Brand has definitely split opinion, much as he does in the UK - you definitely either love him or you hate him! A remark about President Bush possibly didn't warm him to some members of the audience early on, plus a couple of British slang remarks appeared to confuse the international audience - for instance, it appears "yobbos" is not used across the pond! I can't wait to watch it in full tonight to see if he got lost in translation, or if he was off his game.

Dramatic Dresses And Dapper Dudes at The MTV VMAs

LA was host to the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards last night, and nominees, presenters and performers flocked to the red carpet for the show. Black seemed to be the order of the day as Christina Aguilera, Ashlee Simpson, Miley Cyrus and Heidi Montag showed up in gothic tones, meanwhile Heidi's The Hills arch-enemy Lauren Conrad showed up in a gorgeous short white dress. Pink wore a striking red and black striped number, while Katy Perry turned up in... well, not a lot actually!

I can't wait to hear what you think of all the red carpet attire, so once you've flicked through my gallery of photos let me know your thoughts! Russell Brand was back to the look we all recognise him for yesterday, following the gym-bound ensemble that he showed off last week. As he was picked up from his house in London by a driver, Russell took some time to chat to him whilst sucking on a lollipop! Russell's bringing a British flavour to this year's MTV Video Music Awards in LA, along with the awards category of Best UK Video – which Estelle, Duffy, Coldplay, Leona Lewis and the TIng Tings are up for this year.
