Stars Show Their Independent Spirit

Before the Oscars rushed in, Hollywood celebrated at the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday night. Angelina's baby bump was the talk of the town, but Cate Blanchett was the only mommy-to-be to take home a trophy. Ellen Page also scored one of the three awards that went to Juno, and you can check out the full list of winners here. Most of you were loving Kate Beckinsale's red carpet look, but she looked pretty stone-faced inside the show, even between manjoyable Josh and Len. The Independently Spirited Gather in Pre-Oscar Excitement

While the weekend's big event is just hours away, last night's Independent Spirit Awards brought out some big names and one very talked-about baby bump. You know, ICYMI, Angelina Jolie showed off that she is indeed pregnant on the arm of Brad Pitt/Robert Redford (just saying). Sienna looked very happy to be up for best leading actress, but lost to Ellen Page whose Juno also won best feature film. Check out all the winners here. Eva Mendes is apparently out of rehab and red carpet ready while, swoon, Keri and Shane are so my new favorite celebrity couple. Javier and Ellen were unintentional red carpet twinsies - who wore it better? We'll see if tonight's a repeat performance for the two Oscar nominees. Angelina Is So Pregnant!

No more ambiguous and flowy dresses for Angelina Jolie! She may not have sold her pregnancy announcement and given the money to charity in the end, but I'm going to go ahead and say this is a confirmation. Angelina showed off that baby bump at the Independent Spirit Awards today in Santa Monica. Lots more photos from the red carpet and show coming soon, but until then - is it still too early to say congrats to the Jolie-Pitt family?

Zach & Lisa Announce Independent Spirit Award Noms

Unlikely pair Lisa Kudrow and Zach Braff were up bright and early in LA this morning to announce the nominees for the 2008 Independent Spirit Awards. Award season is so underway. The impossibly adorable looking Juno and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly led the way with four nominations each, followed by I'm Not There with three. The best actress category is particularly exciting with both Angelina Jolie and Sienna Miller snagging nods. Check out the full list of nominees here. As for Lisa and Zach, it looks like they may have struck up a friendship while out protesting on behalf of the striking writers earlier this month.

Matilda and Spike Help Michelle Weather the Winter

Michelle Williams sipped a coffee while Matilda munched on a snack as the mother daughter duo took a walk in chilly Brooklyn yesterday. The ladies have Winter ahead of them, but there are plenty of sunny things to look forward to in 2009. Michelle scored a lead actress nomination for an Independent Spirit Award, with Wendy and Lucy and her film Synecdoche, New York earned an ensemble cast nod as well. Last night Michelle got her award season started at the Gotham Awards in NYC, and also made time for her man Spike. Hopefully with a hard year behind her, Michelle can spend the rest of 2008 enjoying Spike and Matilda and preparing for good things to come.

Tom, Katie, and Anne Let Tina Do the Entertaining

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes joined Anne Hathaway backstage at the Tina Turner concert in NYC last night. Anne deserves a night of celebration now that Rachel Getting Married is leading the 2009 Independent Spirit Award nominations, including a best actress nod for her. Katie finally had a chance to relax on her night off from Broadway after a busy week with the Beckhams. We'll get to see more of Tom this Thursday when Barbara Walters interviews him for her Most Fascinating People of 2008, and he opens up about why he doesn't talk about his religion anymore after his Oprah couch-jumping experience. In the meantime, he seemed to be enjoying himself with his wife as he watched Tina perform for his second concert since October.
