Olympics fever is still sweeping the nation, despite the fact the games ended a week ago now, and our admirable medal-winners are rightfully being spotted showing off their medals all over the place. On Saturday several Olympians – including sailing champions Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson – attended a bash celebrating National Lottery funded projects, along with famous faces like the dashing Gethin Jones and Olympic Party performers McFly. I have a feeling the Olympic spirit will continue right through until London hosts it in 2012 – it's going to be fantastic!

London Parties Like It's 2012

Sunday saw a huge crowd and lots of celebrities descend upon The Mall for the London 2012 Olympic Handover Party, following the closing ceremony in Beijing. David Beckham and Leona Lewis represented Britain in Beijing - what did you think of Leona's performance? - while singers took to the stage in London to entertain the crowd. Will Young, Scouting For Girls and those McFly boys did what they do best, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor cuddled up to her man Richard Jones during the day of celebrations. Myleene Klass and Sally Gunnell brought their little ones, while British medal winners welcomed Michael Phelps to their home country. Congratulations and welcome home to all our athletes ... 2012 here we come.

David Beckham made the trek to Beijing to participate in last night's closing ceremony, where the honor of the Summer Olympics was handed off to London for the 2012 games. His appearance was brief - he basically just kicked the ball while Leona Lewis sang with Jimmy Page - but he also found time to play spectator a bit while he was in town. While the Beijing games were likely the most watched Olympics in history, there are some people who are probably relieved they're over. I loved all of it, especially all the swimming, this weekend's Redeem Team win, all the gymnastics, and more - what was your favorite moment of the 2008 Olympics?

This Just In: Michael Phelps Cashes in His Winnings

Olympic golden boy Michael Phelps has just acquired a crave worthy pad, paying $1.69 million for a 4,080-square-foot condo overlooking Baltimore's revitalized Harborfront, according to the Maryland Leader. The pad features amenities sure to win over any young Olympian, such as a rooftop terrace with fireplace, a private screening room, a state-of-the-art gym, a clubhouse with pool tables, and a Jacuzzi. He also recently purchased the Meadowbrook Swim Club and Northwest Ice Rink in Baltimore, which he and his coach plan to turn into an elite Olympic training center, and on the car front, he has been looking at "some Aston Martins and some Maseratis." Ohhh, new money. Let's hope those endorsement checks start rolling in fast.

Michael Phelps Fever Pitch and Celebrity Crush!

Michael Phelps may be getting a much-deserved break after making history at the Summer Olympics, but you can rest assured that his huge grin and hot body aren't going anywhere anytime soon. He's been jonesing for a Big Mac since his final swim, and yesterday Michael spent some of his 10,000 calorie diet on lunch at McDonald's with some of his pint-sized fans. Today it was back to showing off that beach bod with his fellow swimmers in Beijing, and he looked pretty happy to take a break from all of those skintight suits and rock the board shorts for a change. Of course, part of the fun of celebrating comes with doing press - tomorrow you can pick up his latest cover for Sports Illustrated, but you'll have to wait until September to get your very own box of Michael Phelps Frosted Flakes (no Wheaties for this guy).

With the massive amount of media attention he's been getting, it's no big surprise that the women of the world are wondering about the relationship status of Mr. Phelps. He's already shot down rumors that he's dating fellow US Olympic swimmer Amanda Beard, but he hasn't commented on the news that he may be involved with British model Lily Donaldson or revealed that he's dating anyone else, saying, "Part of my life is kept to myself. I'm able to relax and be with my friends. Those pretty much are the only people who really know the answer to that question." While his "Mom of the Games" will always be number one, there is one other lady he did open up about - his celebrity crush is Cameron Diaz.

Michael Phelps Makes History With 8 Gold Medals in Beijing!

He did it!! After winning gold medal number seven of these Olympics by one hundredth of a second on Saturday, record-setting gold number eight seemed to come a little easier for Michael Phelps Sunday morning in Beijing. Joined by his teammates Jason Lezak, Brendan Hansen, and Aaron Peirsol, the USA claimed gold in the 4x100 medley relay, setting a world record as they did it. The headline of course belongs to Michael Phelps and his eight gold medals, surpassing the record set by Mark Spitz at the 1972 Munich Olympics. Mr. Phelps could probably use a little relaxation after this amazing week that has been so much fun to watch. Congratulations to Michael Phelps, and thank you for making it so very entertaining for all of us!

Michael Phelps Is Already a Golden Boy in Beijing

The Summer Olympics are officially underway, and one of our new favorite athletes, Michael Phelps, has already gotten things off to a fabulous start. The swimmer not only scored the gold medal in his first two events, but he also broke his own world record in the 400m IM on Sunday before helping team USA take first place in the nail-biting relay this morning. Most of you agree that he's not bad to look at, but we're thrilled to see that he's doing an awesome job of representing the USA, too. He's still got six more events to go in his quest to take home eight gold medals, and we can't wait to cheer him on over the next two weeks.

Five Things About Gymnast Shawn Johnson

In case you missed it, the Olympic games open this Friday, and I am awfully excited to watch. Gymnastics tops my list of events to see, and Shawn Johnson is the gymnast to watch. Not only did she just win a Teen Choice Award for Choice Female Athlete, she also won the women's all-around title in the 2007 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Pretty impressive resume for a 16-year-old.

Here are five things to know about Shawn:

Her strength training routine doesn't involve weights; instead, she performs classic calisthenics like push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups.
Shawn is four feet, nine inches tall and weighs 90 pounds ( a healthy BMI, by the way).
She attends high school in Des Moines, Iowa.

Images of Shawn currently appear on Coke and McDonald's products. A butter sculpture of Shawn will appear soon at the Iowa state fair - quite a compliment in the Midwest.
She works out four hours a day during the week and six hours on Saturdays. Her workouts generally follow this schedule: Half an hour of conditioning, stretching, and endurance training, then 50 minutes on each of the four events. Her workouts end with focused "extra tricks."

McFly have been announced to play the massive Olympic Handover party that will take place in London at the same time as the Beijing Olympic Closing Ceremony on August 24th. Other acts playing the concert near Buckingham Palace include Will Young, Scouting For Girls, The Feeling, and James Morrison. Tom, Harry, Dougie and Danny also played Pop In The Park in Cheshire on Saturday and got some teenage hormones a-jumping with some tracks from Radio:ACTIVE and some older hits too. I bet those 40,000 people who were allocated tickets for the Olympic party can't wait for the 24th!
