Heidi and Spencer Are Proud to Fulfill Their Civic Duty

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt joined the rest of the celebrity voters and headed to the polls in LA yesterday. While their choice for President didn't win the election, the couple still took the opportunity to pose for patriotic photos. As they supported their candidates, Heidi's dad was endorsing Spencer. He told Life & Style, "Every father wants his daughter to be with someone like Spencer, believe me," and spoke highly of his future son-in-law. Heidi's mother, who is divorced from Mr. Montag, might not agree, but now the couple has at least one family member on their side.

Now that he's been elected and it sounds like the young voters finally came out in droves, what do you think - did the many celebrity endorsements, PSAs, ads, and blogs have an influence on the election?

Celebs Can't Contain Their Election Night Excitement

Harvey Weinstein hosted an Election Night Party at Public House in NYC yesterday as everyone got together to watch Barack Obama elected President. James Franco beamed and hugged everyone around him. Jessica Alba posed with Taylor Momsen, who's not old enough to vote but still got in on the excitement. Jessica said of the election, "I think we all have to start to see the change we are waiting for. We need more people that think like him . . . that are, I don't know, thoughtful?" As for Obama's first order of business, "Helping Americans understand that you are part of the world and can't isolate yourself so much." Overall, the mood was one of joy as people cheered out of their windows and cars in celebration.

Although it is still too close to call, it looks like California has passed Proposition 8, banning same-sex marriage just months after it was legalized in the state. Similar measures restricting the rights of gay Americans passed in three other states as well. - CitzenSugar

David Arquette and Courteney Cox had their friends over for an election night party at their home in LA last night. Their guests included adamant Obama supporter John Mayer and PSA stars Jennifer Aniston, Sacha Baron Cohen, Isla Fisher, and more. David was so excited when Obama's victory was announced that he came outside with a bottle of champagne and cups to share a toast with the paparazzi. At the end of the night, John and Jennifer snuck out and headed home together. While the energy in Chicago was palpable through the television, it wasn't limited to there; supporters all over the country and world joined in the celebration.

Barack Obama took the presidency tonight after breakthrough wins in Ohio and Virginia. At 8 p.m. PST, as soon as the polls closed in California, Oregon and Washington, the networks called the election of President Barack Obama. Republican candidate John McCain suffered losses in Ohio, the state that narrowly gave President George W. Bush victory in 2004, but also in key states like Pennsylvania, Iowa and New Mexico. Congratulations to the Democrats and Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States.

Beyonce Knowles joined Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, and Diddy at a "Promote the Vote" rally for Barack Obama in Philadelphia yesterday. Jay-Z and Diddy have been campaigning for the last few days in key toss-up states, and Diddy took the opportunity to open up about how important this election is to him. He said, "It's a new day right now and my son is in fourth grade, and when they ask him what he wants to be, now he can say he wants to be president of the United States. That's all because of Barack Obama." Beyonce later added, "Everyone is excited and it's time. I feel like we have grown so much as a nation and we will continue to grow because of Mr. Obama." No matter who you're casting your ballot for, all eyes will be on the news as the day unfolds.
