The Summer Olympics are officially underway, and one of our new favorite athletes, Michael Phelps, has already gotten things off to a fabulous start. The swimmer not only scored the gold medal in his first two events, but he also broke his own world record in the 400m IM on Sunday before helping team USA take first place in the nail-biting relay this morning. Most of you agree that he's not bad to look at, but we're thrilled to see that he's doing an awesome job of representing the USA, too.

David Beckham made the trek to Beijing to participate in last night's closing ceremony, where the honor of the Summer Olympics was handed off to London for the 2012 games. His appearance was brief — he basically just kicked the ball while Leona Lewis sang with Jimmy Page — but he also found time to play spectator a bit while he was in town. While the Beijing games were likely the most watched Olympics in history, there are some people who are probably relieved they're over.

The 2008 Olympics kicked off last night with the opening ceremonies, and we're already excited to watch all of the Summer sports. Of course, it doesn't hurt to check out all the hot bodies on the athletes too, and we're keeping a close eye on Michael Phelps. He stands to win 8 medals this year in addition to his 6 from the 2004 games, thanks to his swim skills.
