Angie Opens Up About Her Weight Loss

Angelina was more than happy to sign autographs for fans at the premiere for A Mighty Heart last night. As many of you have noted she looks very thin these days. Her smaller frame has sparked anorexia rumors but she tells London Evening Standard that's not the reason behind her recent weight loss. Here's more:

"Someone saying to me that I'm thin is not a compliment," Jolie said. "I've always been lean and this year I lost my mom and I've gone through a lot. I have four kids and I finished breastfeeding - it's been hard to get my nutrition back on track. Instead of people saying I look like a person dealing with something emotionally, they assume it's because I want to fit into skinny jeans."

Although she does look hot in her skinny jeans, it's good to know she realizes she looks thin and it's not on purpose. She certainly has gone through a lot of changes this year. Hopefully she will take a little more time for herself to get better.

Angie Walks Mighty Red Carpet In Budget Gown

As some of you may have realized, wherever Angelina goes, heated conversation follows, but at last night's NYC premiere of A Mighty Heart the whispers weren't about her life or actions -- they were about her dress. Instead of going with the myriad designer frocks she could clearly get her hands on, Angie went with a $26 vintage dress from a thrift store in LA. I'm not loving it, but I totally know when you find something you like, you gotta go with it! She wasn't nearly as frugal with her feet though -- for those she went with some crystal heeled Louboutins (very much like those amazing $930 Louboutins Cam wore on Ellen). Aside from her clothes, Angie looked radiant and in love alongside Brad on the red carpet. I'm sure they're thrilled to finally see this labor of love on the big screen, but the rest of us are going to have to wait -- it's not really released until June 22.

Angelina Lets Her Guard Down, Just A Bit, to Ann Curry

Earlier in the week we got a peek at Angelina talking about avoiding the media coverage of her life in her exclusive new interview with Ann Curry to promote A Mighty Heart. This morning's Today Show aired a portion of the interview, and after watching the clip, I must say that I was impressed by how poised Angelina comes off, even when reduced to tears talking about her mother. On that difficult subject, "I'm at a strange place in my life. I think that that happens when you lose a parent - you drop into a different kind of serious. And yet, at the same time, you want to enjoy and laugh as much as possible every day...I'm holding onto my family really tight at this moment because of that. H'wood Prom King & Queen Come Out For Mighty Heart

Angelina and Brad looked beautiful at the A Mighty Heart photocall earlier in the day, but at the actual premiere it was glamor all the way. Brad really snazzed it up in a tuxedo and slick-backed hair, while Angie opted for a stunning simple black number. None of their little kiddies joined them, but Mariane Pearl herself was there holding the hand of her brave little man. To help promote the film, Angelina sat down for an interview with Ann Curry which will air Wednesday on both the Today Show and Dateline NBC. Here's a peek at what she had to say, specifically on not reading what is written about her:

I know there’s a cycle of certain things that they keep rewriting or whatever, but I can assume things are made up. But no, I haven’t a clue. (laughter) And why would I, you know? There’s nothing I have to hide or defend. You know, I’m gonna live my life. And there are gonna be times when people wanna try to attack me and I don’t know why, but they will. And that’s okay...

Well, there are other things I’m more concerned about. My kids are healthy. I have a lot I want to do in this world. Before I do, I wanna do a lot of things as a woman, as a mom, and that’s my focus. At the end of the day, I’m gonna be dead... and what people say about me is gonna be what I accomplished and what I did in my life and how my children are.

Despite being one of the most famous and controversial celebrities around, it really does seem like Angie has a good head on her shoulders. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how this movie turned out. If the preview is any indication, I can't imagine there was a dry eye in the theater at the end of the film.

Brad & Angie's Mighty Heart

Brad and Angelina showed up to the photocall for A Mighty Heart in Cannes arm in arm and minus their adorable entourage. They even took off their matching shades and showed some teeth for lots of photo ops. Both Brad and Angie had a large hand in making the film - Brad produced and Angie's the star - so naturally they both had a lot to say about their project. Here's more:

Pitt said he was captivated by the Pearl story from the moment he started following it on CNN. "It was our goal to see this thing through," said Pitt. "And to fight hatred."

Jolie said that despite the serious nature of the film, which tracks Daniel's kidnapping and his wife's desperation to save him, she remains able to smile in her downtime. "I am still capable of being silly and have fun," she said.

It's always fun to hear about the lighter films in Cannes like Ocean's 13, but we're glad to see that many A-listers are also using their celebrity to create films for the greater good.

Angie and Mariane Open Up Their Mighty Hearts

As one of Hollywood's most sought-after actresses, Angelina definitely has the power to pick and choose the projects she feels most strongly about. Angie chose A Mighty Heart years after meeting and befriending Mariane Pearl, the movie's protagonist. In this month's issue of Glamour, Angie and Mariane talk about the movie, their friendship, and their deep admiration for each other. Here are highlights:

On how they met:
MARIANE PEARL: One day a few years ago, I was alone in New York with Adam, still having a rough time [after Danny’s death]. I read an interview with Angie in a magazine, about her and Maddox and her life as a single mom. And I thought, this woman could be my friend…. I’d never experienced anything like that before in my life. It was something in her tone, in the answers that she gave. I felt also that Maddox and Adam [then both about three] could be good friends. So I sent her a note saying, do you want to have a playdate? We cooked pasta; it was actually good. And then we started talking about changing the world…

Angelina Jolie: …and about all the things we were passionate about. Her instincts were right-we did have so much in common. And all the kids are great friends now. Zahara is madly in love with Adam.

On playing Mariane in A Mighty Heart:
AJ: I was so nervous! I mean, it’s like you’re in a roomful of your closest friends and somebody says, “Why don’t you get up and imitate the friend to your left?” Nobody would want to do that, ever!…. Much more than how Mariane looks or acts, I wanted to express her essence. I’ve come to respect her so much as a hard-working person, a serious journalist, a great mom and an emotional, real woman, and I want the audience to connect with her the way I feel she deserves to be connected with. And that was hard, because I had to express the worst time in her life and [in the scene where Mariane is told of Danny’s death] the moment when she received the worst information of her life. It became the worst acting day of my life-and really, the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

Angie Gears Up to Release Her Mighty Heart

Angelina may play the role of mother to four young children and partner to Brad Pitt around here most of the time, but this summer we're going to get to see her playing a slightly different part -- Mariane Pearl, widow of slain American journalist Daniel Pearl. Angelina and Brad are set to debut the film, A Mighty Heart, at the extra star-studded Cannes Film Festival this summer (where Brad's Ocean's 13 will also premiere), but before then EW got a little peek into what it was like making this heavy film. Here are highlights:

On the school children paparazzi incident: "I'll say this,'' Jolie offers. ''We were in a school we were legally allowed to be in. We had permits for exactly what we were doing. And the paparazzi tried to get into the school when we were at the gate, and the parents showed up to get their kids. And the paparazzi rushed through the gates and caused chaos. It was not the film production that caused chaos. We were only guilty of bringing the paparazzi.''
Her costar on working with uber-famous Jolie: ''It would usually take about five minutes before people would figure out that it was Angelina,'' says Futterman. ''So we ended up shooting a lot of the exterior stuff in five-minute increments.''

And just think, that's when Angie is in costume. With all the buzz this movie is already getting, it'll be interesting to see if Angelina the megastar and controversial tabloid figure can take on such an intense role. Something tells me her and Brad's little ones aren't going to be seeing this one anytime soon.

Brad and Angelina have A Mighty Heart

Here's the first image of Angelina as Mariane Pearl, the widow of Daniel Pearl for her new movie A Mighty Heart. Jolie began filming in Pune, India this week. Brad and Angelina have also made a $100K donation to the Daniel Pearl Foundation. These two just can't stop giving their money away. People reports:

The gift, made through the recently formed Jolie-Pitt Foundation, was presented on Tuesday, which would have been the late Wall Street Journal reporter's 43rd birthday.

"On this day our thoughts go out to Danny's family." Pitt and Jolie said in an exclusive statement released by their rep, Trevor Neilson, to PEOPLE. "The Daniel Pearl Foundation is celebrating this day, his birthday, with music festivals around the world. The festivals are a great reminder of not just Danny's work as a journalist but of his life and his love of music."

Paris and Stavros Have a Steamy Miami Reunion

Paris Hilton was party hopping in Miami this weekend, walking red carpets on Friday and Saturday nights but it was the late night club-going that may have gotten her into trouble. Saturday night after the Victoria's Secret fashion show Paris was spotted getting mighty close and cuddly with her ex Stavros Niarchos. Her usual sidekick and longtime boyfriend Benji was nowhere to be seen all weekend long, but this isn't the first time Paris has been linked to someone else during their relationship. While Stavros may still have a place in Paris's heart, she seems determined to prove she and Benji will make it so we'll see if he doesn't mind seeing her so close to her former flame.

Angelina Bares Her Soul For Vanity Fair

We already saw Angelina Jolie's Vanity Fair cover starring her cleavage, but now we've got a look inside the issue. Angie plays it up with different wigs, but there's also no shortage of sex appeal from these photos. In the issue, she doesn't seem to hold anything back about her kids, her relationship with Brad, and how she's been affected by her mother's death. Here are highlights:

On her relationship with Brad: “People have made a lot out of it that we’re not. But we both have been married before, and it’s very easy to get married, but it’s not easy to build a family and be parents together. And maybe we’ve done it backwards, but we certainly feel married.”
On naming her daughter Shiloh: “It’s a biblical name, but we didn’t name her for that. It was a name my parents almost named their first child-there was a miscarriage: Shiloh Baptist. Because my father had been shooting in Georgia and that was the most southern name [my parents] could come up with. It’s a name I always liked. I used to go under it in hotels: Shiloh Baptist. I’d gone under it when [Brad] called hotel rooms where I was staying.”
On her mother's passing: "When [my mother] passed, I realized that somebody who lives life with that kind of dedication to their family is the most noble. I was aware of it growing up. I admired her. And I loved her. But in her passing she reminded me what matters. And what’s most fun-to put yourself aside for these other little people you’re raising.”
On religion: “Brad got me this great thing for Christmas. It’s a bookshelf that has a book on every religion. That’s how we plan to raise our kids. Teach them about all religions. They can pick one or be a student of all of them. We’ll celebrate Kwanzaa for our girl. We’ll celebrate moon and water festivals for our boys. We’ll take them to temples in certain countries. Also to church.”

On why she chose to do Wanted: "Because I had just done A Mighty Heart and was scheduled to do Changeling, which is about the kidnapping of a child. And I had lost my mom. And I knew I was in this odd, fuzzy state going from one loss and kidnapping to another loss and kidnapping. Then Wanted came along. It’s about being physical and jumping and running and being violent, and instinctively I knew I needed to do that.”
On teaching Maddox about death: “Mad always knew my mom was sick. So when it happened, I sat him down and I told him how some people believe there’s a heaven where everybody goes and is together again. And they believe it’s very white and beautiful. And some believe-he’d just seen Casper-there are ghosts who are people and they are always around. And some believe it’s a long peaceful sleep. When I told him, and I was crying, ‘Grand-mère died today, we won’t be able to see her anymore, but she’ll always be around,’ he said, ‘Like she’s here now? Like she’s in that chair?’ And I said, ‘Well, I suppose she could be.’ And he accepted it. It’s funny. It’s like we teach kids the things that we want to believe. Then we see that they have such beautiful faith and it helps them go to bed and we’re in the other room not sleeping well.”
On sharing a love of philanthropy with Brad: “This was actually one of the things that brought us together. Though he wasn’t as publicly active, I found him to be very aware of the world, very curious, very compassionate. In his private way, he had been doing a lot. When we met, we realized our common goals were that we both wanted to be involved in the world and see what we could do. We have similar interests but different approaches. He’s more involved in rebuilding New Orleans, environmental issues, green sustainability. I am more refugees. But when it comes to common goals-orphans, orphans’ rights, children-we support each other. It brings us together and makes our relationship work.”
On meeting Brad: “After my last divorce, I said I was absolutely going to marry somebody in another field, an aid worker or something. Then I met Brad, everything I wasn’t looking for, but the best man, the best father I could possibly wish for, you know? I don’t see him as an actor. I see him very much as a dad, as somebody who loves travel and architecture more than being in movies.”

Angelina also gushed about what a gifted architect Brad is, and apparently she's not the only one who thinks so - he's going to show off more of his skills by designing an eco-friendly hotel in Dubai.
