You Can Find Jay-Z in Club 40/40

Jay-Z had plenty of friends to help him get the NYE festivities started early at the grand opening of his new club 40/40 in Las Vegas last night. Beyonce and Solange both went for sparkles with surprisingly tame but still fun and flirty dresses. Jay managed to pull in crowds from all the worlds of entertainment, with Mary J. Blige and Robin Thicke supporting their fellow music mogul while Lebron James and A-rod represented the athletes. Looks like Jay had a great night shaking hands and giving high fives in his tuxedo, and we bet he and B are all ready to do it up even bigger tonight.

JT And His Partners Show Off Their Southern Hospitality

Justin and his two business partners/friends Trace Ayala and Eytan Sugarman celebrated the opening of their new restaurant, Southern Hospitality, in NYC last night. JT was in his standard uniform from the fedora to the neck hair, but it's cool because his guests -- ranging from Al Sharpton to Lance Bass -- all kept it pretty casual. Jay-Z didn't walk the carpet, but made an appearance on the inside. I wonder if the same can be said for JT's girl Biel, who was elsewhere in town at a screening of I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry for NYC Firemen (more on that later). Hey, even if she didn't get to taste her boy's new goodies, I bet she gets her share of Southern Hospitality from JT. If you know what I mean...ha.

Denzel, Russell, Not-Retired Jay-Z's American Gangster

One of the most anticipated movies left this year, American Gangster had its big NYC premiere on Friday at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem. Denzel and Russell had their wives on their arms as they showed off their awesome looking collaboration. Also on the red carpet was Jay-Z, who was so very excited about the film that he decided to write a whole album inspired by it. In case you missed it, the first track/video is already out. This certainly means he's not at all retired, and he recently talked to XXL Magazine about just that. He said:

I want to never say that again. Just make the albums, man. And if one day people wake up and it’s four years later, and you haven’t made another, they go, “Wait a minute, you’re retired!” I think that’s best for me. I think I pulled the retirement ripcord too many times. People looking at me like, “Please shut up.” I was looking at Fade to Black the other day. I was embarrassed. I couldn’t watch. I’m not playing with you. I had to turn it off. I was cringing. Like, I’m about to put out another album, man. Another one. Not only was that not my last, I put out another one, and I’m about to put out another one. I wasted a great film! I’m about to make another film, though. Not on retirement, just another film. I want to make a movie with this album. Like a short film, a better Streets Is Watching. I want to get the Hughes brothers to direct it. I’ll be doing a disservice if I didn’t deliver it [American Gangster] in a proper way.

I think it's safe to say that everyone has had more than enough of Jay-Z's retirement merry-go-round, so it's good to hear it's over. Now we can all just focus on his music...and that he seems like one of the cooler people ever. As for the movie, we have to wait two more weeks until the Nov. 2 release, but that's just more time to get excited.

Most Go Glam, Beyonce Goes Reflective for BET Awards

LA's Shrine Auditorium played host for the 2007 BET Awards last night and, of course, the red carpet played host for all the glamorous looks. Most egregious of the night: Beyonce's silver Dolce & Gabbana mess. I mean, I know metallic is in and all and I do love me some B, but this was a bit aggressive. Meanwhile, Rihanna looked stunning. You know, not to compare them or anything. Fresh from his new, exciting movie news, 50 Cent was beaming as he stood out among the beautiful ladies. Check back later to see pics from the actual show and learn who went home with shiny (but not 'Yonce dress shiny, of course) little statues. Who knew Bloomberg News was so popular?

Last night in DC a range of celebrities came out for the Bloomberg News "Party of the Year." Some how I think P.Diddy would not agree with the title of the party, but he was not there so let's move on.

Goldie Hawn, Matt Drudge, Kelly Preston, the Williams sisters, Elle MacPherson, and Al Sharpton were in the same room. Also there was the adorable Evangeline Lilly from ABCâ€™s Lost. She looks like a little girl/doll in this dress. She's cute, but I prefer the sexy Evangeline much more than this one.

Also there enjoying his time before his 15 minutes are up is Constantine from American Idol. He looks like he is trying to move on but you can see it in his eyes he is still crushed from his recent vote off.
