Ben Stiller's Night at the Museum of Moving Image

Ben Stiller was joined by his friends and family last night for the Museum of the Moving Image's salute to the actor at Cipriani in NYC. Christine Taylor looked gorgeous in basic black while Ben's Night at the Museum 2 costar Amy Adams stood out in her white sheath dress. His upcoming movie may not be the only sequel Ben has on his agenda - apparently there have been rumblings of a third Meet the Parents movie. In the meantime, Ben's own parents Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara were there to help bring extra laughs to their son's big night.

Oscar Month Kicks Off With a Luncheon

Yesterday afternoon in LA, this year's Oscar nominees got together for a little luncheon to start celebrating themselves. While the show is still in limbo due to the writers' strike, the good news that there have been "breakthroughs" in negotiations keep us hoping that all will be good well before the red carpet kicks off. 2008 Award Season staples Javier Bardem and Casey Affleck were back in suits alongside Juno's Diablo Cody and Ellen Page (who still looks a tad uncomfortable on the red carpet). Nominee and lunch-er George Clooney seemed similarly optimistic, saying, "I think it's got a good shot at it, and I think it's a great sign. It looks very good...I've never crossed a picket line, and would never. I belong to six unions, so it makes it hard." Though he didn't seem too confident about his chances in the Best Actor category, saying about Daniel Day Lewis, "He screws the whole thing up because he's so good." The Oscars are less than a month away, who's excited?

Santa Barbara Honors the Year's Film Virtuosos

The Santa Barbara Film Festival is still bringing out the stars. First I marveled at the cavalcade of hot guys - Gosling, Bardem, Reynolds - and last night some of the year's biggest breakout stars all trekked out for the party. It was the 2008 Virtuosos Tribute with Casey Affleck, Amy Ryan, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, and James McAvoy, all awards show staples this season. I'm loving Amy Ryan's blue blue dress and Ellen Page is always adorable - though just a little awkward on the red carpet still. Meanwhile, I've gotta say I'm more of a Casey Affleck girl myself, but between him and Mr. McAvoy, who do you prefer?

Javier and Amy Are Among The Critics' Choices

Last night in NYC some of the years biggest breakout stars like Javier Bardem and Amy Adams came together with old favorites at the 2007 New York Film Critics' Circle Awards. The winners were announced last month with both Amy and Javier among them and his No Country For Old Men taking home the honor for best movie of the year. Maggie and Peter left the baby at home for the night and Bella wants to know what do you think about her more natural look? Javier's not looking so bad himself these days, though his girl Penelope wasn't by his side for the night. Who knows, this may not be the only award Javier wins this week - with the Golden Globes on Sunday he may be getting another statue for his mantle.

Ben Brings One Baby to Germany, Another Plays On

Here's some commitment - as Ben's boys the Red Sox are on their World Series run he is off in Germany continuing to showcase his other baby, Gone Baby Gone. Ben's been pretty tireless with the premieres, it's no question why he's looking so exhausted here alongside one of his movie's stars, Amy Ryan. Unless this European trip is a short one, it looks like Ben might miss his chance to watch this series live in person. Though, there's no doubt that he'll find a way to watch the games and support the team, even continents away.

Ben and Casey Keep Gone Baby Going Strong

After Monday night's cute friend-fest at the Boston premiere of Gone Baby Gone, Ben and Casey sent Matt on his way to Japan and brought their movie to a NYC screening hosted by Details. Another GBG premiere night and another loss for the Red Sox; it's probably best for the boys not to be watching the games if they want to keep those smiles on their faces. The Brothers Affleck were joined on the red carpet by Amy Ryan, who stars in the film, Patricia Heaton and Sheryl Crow. Jen, on the other hand, was back to preview performances of Cyrano de Bergerac. Casey stopped by Letterman last night to talk about both GBG and Jesse James. Though the highlight was really when Casey told that story about his brother making him jump into that treacherous quarry...twice. Love brothers, especially these ones.

The Afflecks' Brotherly Love

Last night the Affleck brothers and Amy Ryan had a special screening of Ben's directorial debut of Gone Baby Gone. Ben has expressed how he's got a lot riding on the film, but one thing he was sure of was casting his brother Casey. The lesser known Affleck mostly does indie flicks with bit parts in Ocean's thrown in. Apparently he's about to amaze us in two films this year - Gone Baby Gone and The Assassination of Jesse James. Ben said,

“He was the obvious choice by far. I think he’s a really good actor, but he also had the benefit of people not being as aware of him. Other actors, you have this expectation of what they’ll do. But Casey? He could surprise you.”

We can't wait to see the finished product of both Afflecks collaborating. Looks like Casey could be in for a very exciting year, especially with a new baby on the way too! To see more of Ben and Casey just read more

Angelina Jolie Suprises A-Listers at Hollywood Film Festival

It was an exciting evening in Hollywood when Angelina Jolie showed up to hand Clint Eastwood the Director of the Year award at the Hollywood Film Festival Awards last night. Actors like Ryan Gosling, James Franco, Dustin Hoffman, Natalie Portman and so many more dressed up to honor their peers at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The audience was surprised when Angelina strutted out fresh from her recent trip to Afghanistan to speak about Clint. She said:

"There are some people in this business that are icons, and we often wonder if, when we meet them, they'll live up to what we imagine them to be. And Clint Eastwood in person is even better. Clint is what every great director should be. He is a great leader. And I certainly would follow him anywhere."

Clint returned the compliments as usual talking about Angelina's talent and beauty. With award season still a few months away, this is just a taste of what's to come and which famous faces we should get used to seeing on all the red carpets.

Ryan And Some Real Girls Hit NYC

Just one night after his LA premiere of Lars and the Real Girl, Ryan was showing it off in NYC. I was lenient with Ryan's first red carpet look, but this is kind of unfortunate. Though, golf claps for following through with the unique gray suit trend? I'm going to go ahead and blame jet lag for most of this. I can usually get behind the scruffy bearded look, so hopefully it'll be back to dreamy soon for Ryan. Meeting him on the red carpet was the movie's director Craig Gillespie and co-star Patricia Clarkson along with Amy Sedaris, whose quirkiness fits in perfectly with this movie. I'm especially excited to see the stars of two of my very favorite shows on the red carpet - Katrina Bowden from 30 Rock (back tonight! Yay!) and Connie Britton & Kyle Chandler from Friday Night Lights (back tomorrow! Double yay!).

It Was Another Slimy Kids' Choice Awards

After showing off their looks on the orange carpet, the stars got down to the real fun at the Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday night. Miley Cyrus was the night's biggest winner taking home the awards for Favorite TV Actress and Favorite Female Singer, but she managed to avoid being slimed. Orlando Bloom was not as lucky as he got the night's biggest sliming honor. Rihanna kept herself dry with her umbrella-ella-ella while her co-presenter Brendan Fraser got some of the sticky green stuff all over himself. Love seeing Shia and Harrison together on stage, but really, Mr. LaBeouf needs to figure out the hair - not good. Ashlee and Pete made fun of their mutual love of eyeliner while Cameron Diaz graduated from winning the burp contest to taking home the Wannabe award. Fun fun all around.
