Rob, Diane, and More Make For amfAR Highlights at Cannes

Another Cannes red carpet lit up today, but this time it was about charity instead of movies as the stars came out for Sharon Stone's annual amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS 2009 benefit. After a long night of partying with Brad and Angelina, Joshua Jackson accompanied Diane Kruger to the event, while Paris and Doug represented a different kind of couple. Robert Pattinson didn't need a leading lady on his arm to stand out in another dapper suit and Josh Hartnett also provided some eye candy for the ladies. The festival is starting to wind down, but the celebs still seem to be bringing out their best to the hectic schedule of events.

Nelson Mandela Celebrates with 46,664 of His Best Friends

London's Hyde Park turned into a party scene this afternoon as Nelson Mandela kept on celebrating his ninetieth birthday with a star-studded concert. Will and Jada were up and at 'em after last night's Elton John party to get on stage, while Geri Halliwell and Prince William's girlfriend, Kate Middleton, surveyed the scene. Amy Winehouse, who was looking unusually tan, managed to take the stage despite her recent health problems. A crowd of 46,664, a number chosen as that was Nelson's prison number during his 27-year incarceration in South Africa, turned out to mark the occasion. Between this big show and dinner with his friends on Wednesday evening, hopefully Mr. Mandela had a perfect and memorable birthday.

Nelson Mandela Throws a Party 90 Years in the Making

It was a 90th birthday party to remember for Nelson Mandela, who went big for his star-studded celebration in London's Hyde Park yesterday. Will Smith managed to tear himself away from his non-stop promotional tour of Hancock to catch up with his buddies Robert de Niro, Forest Whitaker and Denzel Washington, and of course to spend some time with Jada. There was no sign of Amy Winehouse, but Naomi Campbell was happy to provide the drama, showing up even though Nelson personally requested she be removed from the guest list after her recent legal issues.

The Ladies Sparkle and Shine For AMAs Red Carpet!

The ladies mixed it up with sparkles on the red carpet at last night's American Music Awards - check out how to get some of the looks. Miley Cyrus looked great and is winning for best dressed in her gold and black mini dress on her 16th birthday! Christina quickly walked the red carpet before kicking off the show with her medley of hits while Rihanna found a way to pull off a dress not everyone could. As usual Sarah Silverman kept it casual to support the night's host and her possibly on again boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel. The AMAs Brought Many a Medley and a Few Trophies, Too

After the ladies and men showed off their red carpet styles, they headed into the Nokia Theater for the American Music Awards last night. The show started off with an exciting medley from Christina followed by a performance from the New Kids on the Block that you guys are split on. Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and the Jonas Brothers represented the industry's young blood while Coldplay, Kanye, Mariah and Alicia Keys with Queen Latifah were also crowd pleasers. Justin Timberlake played special guest while Miley celebrated her Sweet 16 between awards - check out all the winners here. There were so many great performances to choose from but our favorite act of the night goes to Beyonce, who clearly brought Sasha Fierce to the stage.

Star-Studded Celebrity Roster Supports Idol Gives Back

Idol Gives Back brought out quite the crowd from all different areas of the entertainment industry for the taping in Hollywood last night. Reese and Brad shared their pretty faces with the audience, while Mariah and Miley were among the musical performers of the night. Teri showed off her pipes (even though most of you wish she wouldn't) and Fergie took the stage to do a song with Heart. As for the theme of the night, Carrie Underwood summed it up nicely, saying, "It's not about self-promoting. It's not about singing your latest single. It's not about trying to be the most-downloaded whatever on iTunes. It's all about getting people to call in and do something." The charitable special airs this Wednesday, and we can't wait to check out the wonderful edition of one of our favorite shows.

American Idol Season 6: The Top 12 Bye Bye Barba

Last night I was clearly not on the same page as America. I only got 1/4 right. I wonder how America could possibly think that Sundance was worse than half the guys that made it through? As for Antonella, I am shocked yet relieved. That said, I bet this isn't the last we see of her. I'm thinking the girl will get her own reality show, perhaps on E! or VH1. Tell us, who were you most surprised to see voted off? Also, with all the crazy Frenchie vs Antonella controversy, many are asking, is Idol fixed?

Moving on to an even better reason to watch AI for the rest of the season - Helping Africa! I will no longer sit around and ask why people are not making it to the next round. I will start voting like crazy especially on April 24th when Idol Gives Back! Idol has jumped on the Africa Bandwagon and we think it's great. Here's more about how Idol and its sponsors will be helping out:

On Tuesday, April 24, the Top 6 finalists will sing songs that can be considered “Life Anthems.” In keeping with the IDOL GIVES BACK theme, all the songs performed will be about compassion and hope. After the performance show, viewers will vote for their favorite contestants via toll-free numbers and text messages, as usual. On this special night, however, viewers will also help change the lives of the truly needy. For every vote cast, AMERICAN IDOL sponsors Coca-Cola and AT&T, along with a range of additional partners, will donate money to the charity.

Live 8 concert rocks - especially in London

On July 13th 1985 1.5 Billion tuned in to watch Live Aid which raised $250M for victims of poverty in Africa. Now twenty years later, the man behind the original Live Aid, Bob Geldof has gathered an amazing list of artists to have 5 huge concerts in London, Berlin, Paris, Rome and Philadelphia on July 2nd.

More details here but all you really need to know is that the US concert will be held in Philly and the following artists will be there: Will Smith, Bon Jovi, Maroon 5, P Diddy, Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z, The Dave Matthews Band, Sarah McLachlan, Rob Thomas, Keith Urban, 50 Cent and Kaiser Chiefs.
