Taking a Step Into Shia's Arena

We're still wondering why Shia's didn't join his fellow Transformers team on stage for their big win at the MTV Movie Awards, but in the meantime we can enjoy the finished product of that photoshoot we saw him working on back in March for Arena magazine. In the issue, Shia talks about his childhood and how much he regrets the mistakes he's made in the past year and shows his gracious side. Here are highlights:

On why he took up acting: "I thought it could bring me security, it could bring me structure, it could bring me my family. You see, finances ripped my family apart. That's when my dad's addictions went haywire and he lost his sh*t and had to leave. So, at a very early age, my thinking was, 'If I can fix this sh*t, then it will all be alright.' And in a way it has been."
On why Steven Spielberg chose him for Indiana Jones: "If I knew the answer to that I'd be a real a**hole. I don't know. We get along very well. I try not to put up much of a fight... ever. I show up on time every day. I do my job. The rest of it I couldn't tell you. IT's CRAZY to me."
On his childhood: "My parents weren't home because they were working. I'd be at the apartment, messing around. Talking to myself in the mirror and acting crazy. That was my upbringing."

On the cast and crew: "It's playing basketball when you've got Michael Jordan on your team. It really doesn't matter what you do. You've just got to take the ball and pass it. That's it. And let him just do his thing. And we had five Jordans on our team. We had a stellar cast and the best crew assembled, ever, and you're in the middle of it. It was like walking into a brain. It was insane."
On his arrests going very public: "It's the demise of movie stars. All my favorite actors I know nothing about. There's mistakes that I'm going to have to make in my life, to grow, but those mistakes seem so permanent when everybody's talking about them. You almost want to be a recluse - but I need to live life, to experience pain so I can show up on set and express that. I'm not complaining about it. It's the life I chose. But fame is just weird in general. It doesn't get normal. I think when it does you become an a**hole."

Seems like Shia didn't take his run-in with the law lightly, so hopefully in the future he can use the energy he brings to his acting into keeping himself out of trouble. At the same time, as much as we love how humble he is - Shia should give himself a little more credit for his awesome record of making blockbusters.

Mischa Hasn't Left the Arena Just Yet

Mischa Barton put on her best pout to go along with her vinyl leather outfits in a photoshoot for the January 2008 issue of Arena magazine. These aren't our favorite photos of her, but she definitely knows how to work it for the cameras. These days it may feel like the stars of our beloved OC are fading away to make room for promising young newcomers, but don't count Mischa out just yet. Right now she's got six movies in the works, one of which co-stars Bruce Willis. Almost half of you thought that Mischa should stick with modeling, but we're still interested to see if she can make it as a movie star.

JLo Is Back To The Denying Board

J Lo looks smoking hot and fit as ever on the cover of Arena Magazine. Seriously, this photoshoot = yowza! Yesterday we saw some photos of Jennifer that made us suspicious about Marc's recent pregnancy denials. Just like me, you all thought that the flowy dress was a surefire sign that she's got a bun in the oven. Today, however, J Lo told Us Weekly, "No, no! We get this every week! I don’t mind when people talk about this. I get the interest. I’m not the only [celeb] who gets these rumors. Everyone calls about this every month . . . but, no.” Ah, so maybe not this month, but at least she's good natured about it.

Adrian Defends the Paparazzi and His Relationship With Isabel

Adrian Grenier and his boys continued filming Entourage in Queens on Thursday, before heading to the cast party at Country Club in Greenwich Village that night. Vince is always the ladies man, but Adrian only had eyes for one woman - his grandmother, who visited him on set. Adrian's love life is often the cause of speculation, especially since his split with Isabel Lucas, which he talked about along with his paparazzi documentary in an interview with Page Six Magazine. Here's more:

On Isabel Lucas: "She and I have a very open communication. We’re friends with common interests. If you want to know the whole story, you’ve got to be my friend. It’s easy to put those labels on people, but they’re not accurate. We’re young in Hollywood having fun.”
On his upcoming film about the paparazzi: "They’re trying to earn a buck in a fun way . . . so they’re doing what they can to feed that demand and make money. Through my documentary, I’ve realized how insignificant all that is, because I know who I am. Take one part truth and 1,000 parts speculation and heresy, and you’ve got yourself a tabloid story."
On Paris Hilton: "I have a lot of respect for Paris. She’s ballsy. She’s learned to play with the paparazzi attention and have fun with it, and she creates little mysteries in the tabloid arena. I have fun with her, but it’s always been platonic. [Our relationship] wasn’t sexual though I understand that sex sells."

While we're glad it seems like his period of mentoring Paris is over for now, it seems he learned a thing or two from the heiress along the way.

Condensed Sugar: Halloween, Hollywood Style

It was all about Halloween this week, from Reese and Jake's outing with Deacon to Nick Lachey's D*** in a Box and Kate Beckinsale's family coordinated costumes. Heidi Klum, Roberto Cavalli, Kate Hudson and Paris (of course) threw their own parties, while other celebs took their kids out instead. Never one for understatement, Britney had not one, but two Halloween celebrations. Even us Sugar girls dressed up. Here's what else went down:

After skipping Halloween, Lindsay spent some QT with Riley and finally sold her LA condo, which should give her the funds to continue her shopping sprees.
After a quick trip to Paris and a short stop in Spain, Ben Affleck was back in NYC to catch Jennifer, Glamour magazine's woman of the year, in her Broadway debut.
Posh and Becks were reunited in LA earlier this week, when Posh debuted her new brunette 'do. David opened up to Arena magazine about how he and Victoria keep their romance alive, before supporting BFF Tom at the premiere of Lions for Lambs and Victoria debuted her new Spice Girls video.
It was the week of Blackout for Britney, as her new album hit stores on Monday. She wasn't doing any promotion, but she made time for a brief chat with Ryan Seacrest. After her bad review from her parenting coach earlier this week and getting served with papers for a new lawsuit, hopefully her time with SPF and JJ cheered her up.
While Joel was in Munich at the MTV Europe VMAs, Nicole stayed behind in LA to dine with her fellow starlets and deny those pesky smoking rumors.
Christina and Jordan continued to prepare for their baby, doing a little shopping for their home and buying toys before celebrating Halloween together.

Beckham Gets All Romantic in Arena

David Beckham looks all suave on the cover of the Arena Magazine issue honoring Britain's most powerful men under 40. Becks nabbed the top spot and this weekend he'll be using his power for good playing in a charity soccer game with the Galaxy to benefit people affected by the recent Southern California wildfires. In the magazine he opened up about his friendships with other Hollywood couples like the Cruises and the Lopez-Anthonys. Oh, and he talks about how much he loves his life with Victoria. Get ready to swoon. Here are highlights:

On life with Victoria: "We do romantic things every day - write notes, make breakfast for each other. Something will happen every day that is romantic. Some people will be going 'yuck' at all this...We were lucky to have wanted the same things in life - to have kids young and be adventurous."
On Tom and Katie (and Scientology): "We respect their religion. We respect everything they do and believe in. But they have never turned around to us and said, 'You have to be a part of this', because that's not what they're about. It's never been about that. There's been nothing shoved down our throats because friends don't do things like that. They are amazing people who are just so positive about life and they have been great to us."
On Mark and Jennifer: "We talk about all sorts. What's happening that week, that day. What Jennifer's up to, what Victoria's up to. I speak to him at least three or four times a week."

Okay, no yucks here, only one big awwwwww! He and Victoria seem so genuinely in love it's hard not to just adore them together. It's also pretty freaking adorable how much he gushes about his friends, right? For a man with such famously chiseled features, he seems like such a softie deep down.

Beyonce's Fabulous Diet

How does B do it? She talked about getting skinny for Dreamgirls but she has managed to keep the weight off and continues to look amazing. Check out these photos in Arena Magazine. She even looks this good after being seen "lunching on chicken pot pies and banana splits at Serendipity 3."
