Bikini-Clad Ashley Olsen Makes a Splash in Hawaii

Ashley Olsen took a dip in the ocean during a recent vacation in Maui, Hawaii. The designer wore black bikini bottoms and a printed top while she smiled and enjoyed herself in the waves. The last time we saw Ashley, she was a little more bundled up to meet her pal Leelee Sobieski for lunch in NYC. Ashley didn't walk the red carpet at this month's Met Gala, but her twin sister, Mary-Kate, attended in a sleek custom-made gown from their line The Row. The duo appeared together on the cover of Elle UK in April, when they discussed their decision to quit acting to focus on their multiple fashion lines.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen divided to conquer NYC yesterday. Mary-Kate had her hands full as she left an office building and hopped into a car, and Ashley, who was wearing plaid TEXTILE Elizabeth and James pants, met up with pal Leelee Sobieski, who has a new show NYC 22 debuting soon, for lunch. The Olsens are hanging out in the Big Apple tending to their various fashion ventures. They're also among the many celebrities who love their animals on National Pets Day, which is today! Ashley's recently returned from a visit to LA, where she attended the Santa Monica Museum of Art's Precognito Gala in March. Both she and Mary-Kate just spoke about their jet-setting lives and the work they share in the April edition of Elle UK.

Ashley Olsen joined actors Emmy Rossum and Ben McKenzie at the Santa Monica Museum of Art's Precognito Gala last night. The preview event featured more than 650 original artworks from experienced and emerging contemporary artists. The museum encouraged guests to trust their instincts in selecting pieces, as each work was signed on the back and the artist's identity revealed only after making a purchase.

Ashley's becoming somewhat of an artist in her own area of design. Fashion's 2012 CFDA nominees were announced today with Ashley and Mary-Kate earning a nod for The Row in the womenswear designer of the year category. MK and Ashley will be in competition against their contemporary peers Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough, and Lazaro Hernandez when the winners are announced in June. Johnny Depp was also among the list of honorees and will be recognized with the fashion icon award.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Talk Twin Intuition, Stepping Out of the Spotlight in Elle UK

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen appear on dual Elle UK covers for the glossy's April issue. The sisters have managed to build a massive high-fashion empire helmed by their luxury line, The Row, since leaving their acting careers behind. Mary-Kate and Ashley, who show off their well-honed individual style in the pages of the publication, talk about their "shared" thought process and their somewhat controlling approach to their design work. The Olsens also reflect on their decision to mostly stay out of the public eye these days. The full feature appears in the April issue of Elle UK, on sale Wednesday, March 7. In the meantime, check out some highlights from the interview:

Ashley on how she and Mary-Kate think alike: "We're attracted to different things, but we arrive at the same place. I think we're probably unaware of how intuitive it might seem from the outside. It's basically one thought process shared between two people."
Mary-Kate on other celebrity fashion lines: "Of course we knew about the trend of celebrities as designers, but we'd done that already when we were much younger. I don't understand the new idea of designers as celebrities either. To me, the Phoebe Philo [Celine designer] kind of modesty is the way to go. We love beautiful things. That's the only driving impulse."
Ashley on their hands-on approach to work: "We are perfectionists. We've always wanted to be closely involved with everything, totally hands on - that's why it works. If we step away, it stops working. I know it sounds controlling, but that's how it has to be."
Ashley on staying out of the public eye: "I don't have to be a pretty face. I've done that, but now it's important and liberating to be on the other side of the lens. I don't like to be the center of attention anymore."

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were the latest celebrities at Fashion Week as they watched the J. Mendel show in NYC this afternoon. They kicked off the stylish events at QVC's presentation last week, when they joined Camila Alves and Olivia Palermo in the front row. Mary-Kate and Ashley were the ones in the spotlight on Monday morning, though, since they showed their latest The Row collection to a select group of press at Bemelmans Bar in the Carlyle hotel. QVC helped kick off the Fashion Week festivities with a runway show featuring the work of their celebrity designers, including Camila Alves, Isaac Mizrahi, Cynthia Vincent, and Geren Ford, in NYC last night. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen sat front row next to Isaac at the event while Camila, Kelly Bensimon, Olivia Palermo, in Tibi pants, and Maria Menounos also took prime seats. Camila wore her engagement ring on the red carpet and chatted about the exciting news, saying, "I am really enjoying being engaged right now. No wedding plans as of yet." Make sure to tune-in to QVC tomorrow night and Saturday at 10 p.m. EST to see the show. Mary-Kate and Ashley will be the ones in the spotlight on Monday, when they show their The Row collection. Mary-Kate and Ashley Model The Row at an Event For Olsenboye

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen stepped out in NYC this morning for an exclusive JCPenney event held at Pier 57. The designers dressed in shades of black and gray, with each sister carrying one of their own luxury handbags from The Row. They were on hand to support their lower-priced brand, Olsenboye, which is sold exclusively at JCPenney.

Today's event brought out a fashionable crowd, with Charlotte Ronson. Diane von Furstenburg, and Nicole Miller also on hand. JCPenney CEO Ron Johnson was the star of the gathering, though, taking the stage to share JCP's new pricing strategy. It seems fans of Mary-Kate and Ashley's Olsenboye can look forward to picking up items at lower prices in future seasons, but they're taking the opposite approach when it comes to The Row considering the astronomical cost of their $39,000 alligator backpack.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Prep For Fashion Week as Little Sister Elizabeth Rocks Hollywood

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen ducked out of a Manhattan appointment yesterday dressed in their warmest Winter coats. The pair did their best to stay warm, while across the country their little sister, Elizabeth, showed off her figure at the Critics' Choice Awards. Elizabeth Olsen wore a yellow Pucci dress last night and told us she'll occasionally solicit fashion advice from her famous siblings.

Mary-Kate and Ashley are prepping for another fashion week! 2012 Fall Fashion Week is just around the corner, and the fun kicks off on Feb. 9 in the Big Apple. The designing duo gave a sneak peek of their pre-Fall 2012 The Row collection recently and described the assortment to WWD as "aristocrat meets equestrian."
